Obama Downplays ISIS Threat: ‘We Have Contained Them’

To be fair...Obama is a prick! Lying again just like he and Hillary did during and after Benghazi to cover up the failings of this inept administration.

But with Obama aside, ISIS and Islam in general needs to be taken seriously. No more of the "moderate Muslim" crap...there is no such thing. Every Muslim celebrates Islam and in the end...is or will be the enemy. This WILL be WWIII, a religious war (at least from one side) and Russia and maybe China will join them. The liberals have weakened us to the point that winning such a war will be difficult and with Obama's stance with our allies...maybe we are doomed. But don't believe for a second that this was just stupidity. These people aren't idiots and knew what they were doing...lied to hide it and now we face it.

Not today...not tomorrow and maybe not even next year. But it is coming. My only hope is that we get a man with balls in the oval office and a congress that will support rebuilding what Obama and team have destroyed.

Hmm..how the conservatives manage to use a tragedy in another country as a way to hate on Obama is idiotic.

They love to tell us over and over how other world leaders do not like or respect Obama...but this happens all of a sudden it is Obama's fault.

So if they do not listen or respect or Obama, how they hell is it his fault when something like this happens...I mean even if he gave them some help on how to deal with this...NO ONE WOULD LISTEN OR WANT IT ACCORDING TO YOU..

There is a reason why we have not destroyed ISIS. I'm ignorant as to why; however, that does not take away that there must be some reason(s) as to why this cancer has not been obliterated from the face of the earth. Anyone know why?

I like that answer. Although I do not agree with Putin on a lot of things,he is a tough leader and will do exactly what it takes to preserve Russia's interests.

With all the "Syrian refugees" entering western societies (including the USA), it is the OPPOSITE of "contained". This guys is such an ass clown...really ready for some change about now.

Obama won't change our current tactics in dealing with ISIS and he will still let at least 10,000 "refugees" into the US even though the house homeland security and intelligence guys say that is stupid. Obama's people claim they have a great vetting procedure that apparently no one else knows about. Is this prick for real????

Individual states are already beginning to react in saying they will not accept Syrian refugees.
This movement is going to grow and democrats and republican, alike, will reject Obama's plans.

On the same day as the attacks in Paris, Obama claims ISIS is contained.

Read the President's words again.

He said they are contained in IRAQ and SYRIA. Recruitment is hampered.

At no point did he say or imply or hint that they were defeated or no longer posed a threat.

This was not G.W.Bush proclaiming "Mission Accomplished".

Obama helped created ISIS.

G.W. Bush 'created' Daesh when he disbanded the Iraqi Army. (ISIS is a misnomer - they are not Islamic, nor are they a State).

Obama had nothing to do with it. Unless, of course, you consider killing Osama Bin Laden (something Bush promised to do and then decided it was more important to go on yet another vacation in Texas chopping weeds) 'helping to create ISIS".

Did you read the Breitbart article? Did you read the HuffPo article? Because if you had you might have noticed that Breitbart got it wrong - but that is not unusual, its how they do things at Breitbart; they get things wrong. You would almost think they do it on purpose just to see how many sheep they can sucker.

Breitbart claimed in its first sentence:

A read-it-to-believe-it column in the Huffington Post is demanding that each American do more to stop the looming threat of the Islamic State– by recycling.

But what the HuffPo article actually says is:

... many in the West remain unaware that climate played a significant role in the rise of Syria's extremists. A historic drought afflicted the country from 2006 through 2010, setting off a dire humanitarian crisis for millions of Syrians. Yet the four-year drought evoked little response from Bashar al-Assad's government. Rage at the regime's callousness boiled over in 2011, helping to fuel the popular uprising. In the ensuing chaos, ISIS stole onto the scene, proclaimed a caliphate in late June and accelerated its rampage of atrocities including the recent beheadings of three Western civilians.

Breitbart further claims the HuffPo article is blaming climate change, but no such charge is made. The article says that climate made an impact - there was an extreme drought - and says that climate change could have played a part in that drought, but that is not the point being made.

Breitbart plays down the drought, claiming that the uprising was caused by a "crackdown on political dissent". The HuffPo article claims that the dissent that was being "cracked down" on was a result of years of neglect by the Government including the utter lack of response to the drought. The country was falling apart, it was not able to feed itself, and "the natives were getting restless" - so Assad start cracking heads.

And where does Breitbart's "recycling" comment come into it? The HuffPo article says:

Toting a metal water bottle is good, but it's time for ordinary people to consider the bigger picture. When we fail to get the facts right about greenhouse gas emissions, we may unwittingly enable ISIS, Al Qaeda, Boko Haram, Al Shabaab and other extremist groups to flourish. As we consider our personal positions on climate change, it is important to understand all that is at stake in our interconnected world.

The article is not saying that recycling can help to fight Daesh ( I will not use those initials), it says recycling is not enough and that it misses the point. Breitbart got is exactly, oppositely, demeaningly, stupidly, bass-akwardly WRONG.

There is nothing really new about any of this. Extremists always move into a power vacuum. Climate change helped create a power vacuum in Syria - there is no doubt of that.

What part of that is Breitbart (or you) unable to understand? Droughts and other extreme climate events are known destabilizers and have been throughout history. This is not rocket science folks.

The HuffPo article mearly points out that as climate change causes more and more disruptive climate events, whether drought or storm or whatever, local authority will be destabilized exposing the population to these extremist factions. That will happen again and again - in the mideast, India, China, South America, North America, Australia - everywhere. Ignoring that simple fact is suicide.

How it is dealt with is what will be the difference. Can we slow climate change to give us a chance to stabilize the required changes to the world economy? Can we respond to events better that Bush (Katrina) or Assad (drought) did? It remains to be seen.

P.S. Breitbart: what the heck does China have to do with this - are you channeling Carson now?

So, a group of religious extremists, facing drought conditions and economic hardship opt to deal with such via:

Killing infidels (those who are NOT of their very narrow belief system).
Stoning women for adultery; for driving a car; for learning to read.
Crucifying Christians for being Christian.
Throwing gays off of roofs into the public square.
Blowing up (and or hijacking) airplanes.
Strap suicide bombs on other "believers" to increase carnage of "non-believers."
Plan wide spread mayhem, with use of automatic weapons on unarmed, soft targets.

Breitbart may have been generous in their edit of the EMBARASSING claims.

You are being disingenuous and intellectually dishonest. I never implied any such thing and the HuffPo has not solved any mysteries. HuffPo published an article about the affect climate change could have on political unrest. This is not even a controversial subject, why do you have to be so obtuse?

I seem to remember another president getting hysterically eviscerated, by the MSM, after saying Mission accomplished while the policing action in Iraq was still going on. Obama saying we have them contained and then this happening is the same and I have yet to see the impartial MSM slicing up this president.

It matters not what passports used, valid or not. Do you think ISIS members are only in Iraq and Syria? This attack was organized in Belgium but planned in Syria.

The JV team is growing under the watchful eye of Mr. OBAMA.

Maybe poking the hornets nest and mocking them (ISIS) wasn't such a good idea.
