I'm kind of feeling a little uneasy about this. Knee-jerk decisions, legislation and actions are usually taken when these types of things happen...exactly what people in power with an agenda want.

When you control the angles of the surfaces, you can predict where the water flows.

Agreed.

I am not liking the talk that I am hearing from some individuals and how our own governments may overreact in a similar fashion.

This will not be a popular statement, but I think we need to chill-out and think about this before we go too far.

Who cares about the current level of violence? These things need to be put in historical perspective and one group's innocents shouldn't be held accountable for the minorities actions. That is what historical perspective bring... a chance to not make the same crap mistakes again.

What ISIS really would love to have happen is for the Western governments turn against their Muslim population. Talk about a win.

If we are not careful, that is exactly what will happen.

Look at what we did to the Japanese after Pearl Harbor. Look at what Hitler did in WW2.

We need to be very careful in how we proceed or we risk repeating history.

Sympathies to all those affected by this awful atrocity.

I feel Europe will start looking at reinstating borders, we cannot trust our nations security to those outer European countries facing the migrant such as Turkey and Greece. Either we should assist them with a European border protection force or we will have to close our own.

I wonder how long until people start voting the nationalist parties back in because we seem very vulnerable in our own countries. UK cutting police force too....nonsense, we need to be expanding it along with intelligence in these troubled times.

The wheels are already turning in the US MM...

Just viewing FNC the past half hour, the majority of the implied sentiment, is...

The Gov't needs MORE tools to prevent the imminent attempt to attack the US again...

Not much about the tragic attack in France, or sympathies conveyed, more WHAT MUST WE DO SO WE DON"T GET ATTACKED..

It's like a bad movie script...

Already a wiki on this en.wikipedia.org...
If this was America everyone would be saying what a ruthless violent place it is..
It happens everywhere and not just America. Organized terror is way more
dangerous then a few one off lone gun men getting one or two people..

Yeah I could agree with that. You know what scares me even more than organized terror? State sponsored terror.

What state sponsored this terror event?

Oh the choices.....where does one begin.

Russia assists Assad with direct military intervention and suddenly a series of terrorist attacks take place by "Syrian IsIS recruits".

Because you know, having to fight one major world power is so 1980, best get as many nations against you as once. That way, when they go to bomb you all they nations will accidently crash into each other like a Buggs Bunny cartoon.

Or they're just really really dumb. Wanna go with the latter? Ok, ISIS are dumb, so dumb they can pull off a multi prong terror attack in a 1st world country with young Syrian Refugee terrorists that must have taken months if not years of planning with an end goal of what? See how many foreign fighter jets they can get into Syria at one time?

Well we're doing a great job of how Chamberlain treated the Nazis *before* WW2.

What are Knee Jerk Decisions here?

These people want to destroy and kill us! What's there to misunderstand? What's there to wait and understand?

These people are murders ... they have no issue with killing (children, old people, etc).

There is no legislation needed here. We use the power of our military that we pay for and use that power to eliminate this for once and all!

Death to ISIS!

I can stand behind the "death to ISIS" chant if I believed it could ever end there. Inevitably you end up carpet bombing a village in error and then the relatives of those people form a terrorist group some 30 years down the road.... and it goes on..and on... and on.

I don't claim to have a solution for any of this. But the violent knee jerk reaction we have tried over the last.... 500000 years doesn't seem to be working out for us, no? (And no I didn't end the sentence like that because I am a non native english speaker... I just like doing that on occasion ).

Who do we deport?
Citizens?

Like mystic said, we need to chill with the knee jerks, we don't even know what happened yet.

Just like when the gun topic comes up, we can't let the actions of nutjobs lead to legislation that effect people that had nothing to do with it right?

Or should we just feed in that divide people are always talking about.

Should people not demand an end to ISIS? Explain it to me like I'm 5 because I'm not sure why it's not ok for people to stand up for their countrymen. They hate us and want to kill us. The people should stand together in a time of crisis even if the things they say sound entirely idiotic. It's just their way of saying "I'm hurt". None of those morons you knew went off and killed Taliiiiban, but they did bond about it as apart of the healing process of the red neck. Accept who they are.

For every civilian killed, 10,000 deported. Something politically incorrect like that is needed. What would Putin do?

Invade Georgia and flog some gay people.

He's not exactly the paragon of virtue we should be emulating.

How?
They don't wear uniforms and we can't just go in and bomb the whole area.

That is unless you don't care about the innocent lives there.

I'm not liking this at all.

All it took was one more attack to send some people over the edge.

Thank god we still have a right to bear arms in this country.

I don't fear ISIS....I fear you and those that think like you.

Hello all

As I am a pure Parisian , I feel at the bottom of the abyss...

7th of January with Charlie Hebdo was awful ; they attacked freedom of speech and thinking...
But tonight they tried to destroy our right to live in freedom in such a symbolic city...

But I'm certain Paris "City of Enlightenment" will resist and shine stronger against such abyssal obscurantism...

I really think that today 14th November 2015 is a totally new page in my country's history , I just want to hope it's gonna be a "gold" chapter not the first one of decadence....

I feel ya, thank you for this post. Stay vigilant!

We are going to lead a war which will be pitiless. Because when terrorists are capable of committing such atrocities they must be certain that they are facing a determined France, a united France, a France that is together and does not let itself be moved, even if today we express infinite sorrow.

www.theguardian.com...

With one part of France locked down in their homes and the other out on the streets, searching for what exactly?

This escalated a tad too quickly, one might ask who he is going to attack in said war he will lead. On second thought one might better not...

Who doesn't like to listen to good political polemics at the right place and time. What a Dick Cheney...

Exactly, that what I keep saying, however some people keep on bringing religion as the culprit.
Terrorism and religion are two totally separate things.
