LOL @ the loser smokers going into defensive mode. This thread is epic.

Calm down and have a smoke.

I can't. My tears from being called a loser keep putting out the cigarette.

You know, I quit smoking 5 years ago as of Halloween night... in those 5 years I can't really say I felt much of an urge to pick up a pack again and fire one up, until I read this OP. Your post makes me really wish I still smoked for some reason. It really is the gift that keeps on giving.

Rip the cotton filters off, use then to dab your eyes, and bare ass one of those nicky sticks you tore the filter from!

I quit for about 3 years. I even maintained my non-smoker status when my kids were killed. A few months ago I had multiple back to back stressful events including the diagnosis of a non smoking related, eventually terminal, illness. I picked up smoking again because it was a reliable coping method.

The stress was going to kill me before smoking would ever have a chance. As the stress eases, I find my desire to smoke becoming less and less.

I have always been very respectful of other people when I smoked. My kids knew I smoked, but they never saw me smoke. When they would ask why, I would tell them I was too embarrassed for them to see smoke. However, after quitting for 3 years, I became more aware of the smell. So now I am even more careful.

I am especially careful because my husband has asthma. I try very hard to make sure he is never exposed to it. I change cloths and wash up afterwards now. I'll go back to vaping soon, especially since it is getting colder and I only smoke outdoors.

I am perfectly ok with you asking people to be respectful, but calling people names? You should have known that you weren't winning anyone over to your side with that.

*Sigh*
I saw this post about 8 hours ago when I had to leave somewhere. As this is a hot topic for me that boils my blood when people speak like this, I originally planned a long thread that would try to educate you about tobacco use, it's vital history in the U.S., and the great deal of propaganda and money that has gone towards successfully making you the anti-smoker you are today.

But, you're just not worth it.

You see, I consider people who rant like this to be the epitome of the sniveling, whiny personality that's wrong with today's society. Guess what? I don't consider that kind of person worth knowing in my life either.

Apparently, from your other posts, you have no issue smearing urine on your face and even drinking it, so by all means, please go on about how disgusting smokers are. Also, along with not being able to spell "seeker" OR "knowledge" in your own username or the fact that you find Halloween to be a form of devil worship - golly! I just cannot take you seriously when you decide to call a vast number of mature, intelligent individuals "losers" for experiencing the pleasures and benefits of tobacco consumption.

Thanks to all the more sensible posters here who responded to this thread and made good points about vehicular exhaust, pesticides and the MANY other things that should be a much greater concern other than smoking.

And good luck OP, dealing with your terrible 1st world issue there. Maybe one day you'll really find something worth ranting about that would make a truly positive difference in this society.

It isn't often that I read a response that does make me LOL! I feel fortunate that I hadn't just taken a big swig of tea.

I quit 3 years ago. I promised myself and haven't become angry at smokers.

Smoke going into the atmosphere? NO. Like a drop in the ocean in comparison to car exhaust.

I still let guests smoke in my home, but it's not well insulated. If it was a more sealed up home, I might ask that they step onto the porch and go with them.

...if you had a 'more sealed up home' the radon gas could give you the same lung cancer that 'passive smoking' gives you...who would know?...they don't test non-smoking households (the residents of which might develop the same lung cancer caused by smoking) for radon gas on a whim...hence - the fabled 'passive smoking'...

...'they' also do not test smoking households (the residents of which, obviously [if they did develop lung cancer] died from tobacco sticks)...why test for anything else?

Yup.
I am indeed a loser.
Lost another $8 on a pack of all natural additive free tobacco again today.

Stressful day. Won't get into it.
Had to take a smoke break.

Better than the alternative course of action that was welling up and I'll leave that one alone.

But seriously, good for you for being smoke free. It's a nasty habit and a horrible addiction to break out of. Expensive too. Been trying to quit off an on for ten years. No lectures please, I already know the ins and outs of the whole shebang. Thank you very kindly.

Don't worry, I'm not going into sterile environments and just doing my little part to make sure proper tobacco farmlands aren't bought out and paved over to make another damn urban nightmare development of hostile, rude, obnoxious little know it alls who think just because they were born and raised in a pure smoke-free environment and don't have to worry about the things some of us older farts do can be overly rude and simplistically idealistic about the little lifestyle choices that make our otherwise horrible barren nightmares of an existence even slightly more tolerable.

You can have that land when you pry it from my tar covered lungs.

Use 'em to pave your roads when I leave this carcass behind of legit natural causes, would ya?

Thanks.

You know, recycle and all that.

I'm serious and hope you don't take this tirade too harshly, I'm trying to smile but I'm also trying to not smoke another cigarette right now and I'm being a slightly horrible person because of it.

But honey, lemmie tell ya something...some of the Greatest Generations were tobacco enthusiasts, and I sure as heck wouldn't mouth of to my elders like that because they'd put me in the ground faster than you can scream "LOSER!"

Seriously.
They scare the.....TAR....outta me!

Had to.
Sorry had to.
It's inevitable.
Puns.

I don't even smoke nor agree with it but it's all their own choice, as long as they aren't hurting anyone. In fact processed foods are considered now to be more dangerous, addictive and cancer forming than most things. Are people who eat those foods losers too?

You are a rare and precious person---a person who has stopped and remained sane. I've noticed that ex-smokers often become very annoying in their state of deprivation of nicotine. Nastiness and judgmental lectures are symptoms I've often witnessed.
I have no problem stepping outside a non-smoking home/business to indulge. I'll leave no evidence of my smoking. My objection is to the lecture and name-calling by people who were doing the same thing just a few months or years ago. I quit drinking soda years ago but it didn't turn me into a nagging, nasty nanny.

I vape nowadays. The sort of attitude in the OP and displayed in anti-smoking commercials, though - it makes me want to start smoking again. So obnoxious.

First of all, if it matters, I apologize for calling 1/3 people on Earth (an astronomical number if you think about it) losers. I was aware it was ignorant, but also knew it would be an attention grabbing headline and hoped it would prompt some form of change (I see now it did just that lol), But should you guys really get this upset over one guy who you've never met nor probably will meets opinion? If someone called all coffee drinkers losers, I would chuckle, maybe throw in a satirical comment, and forget about it 5 minutes later. Secondly, there really are people that feel how I feel, as I got 8 flags ( more than I thought actually, I thought 99% of commenters would be chewing my butt over my ignorance lol).

But with all that being said, second hand smoking DOES kill people. 42,000 a year at that. (www.livescience.com...)
I really DO get headaches when walk by cig smokers. And most of the ones I meet will light up right when I'm enjoying a meal, which will completely ruin it for me. Inconsiderate. That's why I made this thread.
As far as you educating me about "tobacco use" I have absolutely zero problems with tobacco. You can dip, you can chew, you can vaporize, they have nicotine patches, nicotine gum, among other nicotine products. So for ones that think I'm knocking their addictions, I'm not! I'm knocking the effect your addiction has on me and others who choose to be smoke free, like a child inhaling smoke because his mom wants to get her fix. If she would just switch to anyone of those products I mentioned above, it would be a win win as she could cope with her stresses of life without endangering others around her.
Nevertheless, thanks everyone for commenting, I gave an apology, as for the name calling, but I still stand my ground about my beliefs.

But I was totally OK with you calling me a loser. I smoke and it is stupid to smoke.
