Interesting; a few of those, I had not heard about, such as the military plane headed toward Morocco. Some of these cases are spookier to me than
others. No idea why.
The yachtsmen is one; it's as if something took them off the ship, without a trace.
Same for the lighthouse crew. That one just feels very wrong, somehow.
The biggest one for me is the lost colony. One thing that really,
really bugs me about that one is that the story has changed!! I heard about
this as a child, and saw it written about in books for years. The colony is left there, there are peaceful Indians, and they are gone without a trace
when the ship finally arrives, with no clue but the word "croatoan" carved into the post. The thing that's changed is this - everywhere I ever read
about the case, there was said to be NO Indian tribe with that name. None. The Indians that were there were named something else, though I can't
recall what. That was part of why it was such a huge mystery. No Indians by that name meant they didn't just go to said Indians. Now, in the
internet days, all of a sudden, there were Indians by that name?!?!? I really don't get that one! I more than half wonder if some group didn't
decide that they "were" such a nonexistent tribe, just for the status. Things do get spread around online that aren't true. Heck, it happens with
song lyrics; one site prints some mistake, and others copy it, and no one listens to correction, even if you are looking at the actual lyrics, printed
in album info. Still, that the data changed, on this of all cases, really bothers me! I even remember checking in encyclopedias for such a tribe,
and not finding one. How that change came about, and why, I'd love to know.
