In payment

Ummm...when one pauses to reflect on the path one has taken to arrive at this moment...perhaps consideration of a singular crux...might give rise to an opening of mind and heart...of a willingness to lay bare the essence of what brought about that possibility...

What follows is one of those nexi moments that might express a possible why scenario...at least for me this is true...


In payment


These yellowed walls which do enclose me now
Contain the shades of others that have stood
Like me in payment that we could somehow
Fulfill this debt and know that it is good

I almost hear their voices calling out
Like echoes from some much repeated time
Leave this place and turn your life about
Break the cycle do not break the crime

In this room where others paused to be
I watch the hours and the days pass by
This body caged and yet the spirit free
Thank you Lord that you should show me why


Strange to think that standing in that cell...my mind and spirit never seemed quite so free...as then...

Ummm...thank you Kenzo...Even though grace had forgiven me...I still had to pay the debt to society...
That's a more mundane realization than debt of sin...repentance and salvation...
