I suspect the Merkavah literature is quite a bit older than 100 BCE given the date for the compilation of oracles attributed to Hezekiel being c. 550-500 BCE; we certainly see its influence in the Scroll of the Book of the Words of Henoch son of Jared (fragments dated to c. 350 BCE) and also some echoes in the Songs of the Sabbath Sacrifice c. 200 BCE - but unfortunately as you pointed out, there are so few references to the Merkhava directly in the 'surviving' material of the Dead Sea Scroll corpus, we will never know until more texts are discovered (or released to the public !) how entrenched this branch of Jewish mysticism was in the intertestamental period.

Your scholarly comments on the subject are very well taken however - so keep up the good work on ATS ! Let's see if we can raise the bar a little around here...

Ezekial was arounf 500 BC but years later around 100 BC I think the Merkvah folks started Kabbalah and were heavily influenced by Ezekial.

The wheels of Ezekiel are to represent the four winds, those who have carried the gospel throughout the world. Mathew Mark Luke and John. The four images represent the Ox, as the power of YAHWEH word. The Lion represents the authority of teaching truth of YAHWEH. The Eagle represents the authority of wind as it carries the truth. The man represents the four in one body of the Spirit, whom has come into many men throughout history. This is understood from the four each also having hands of men, as thier hands had written the word of YAHWEH. (Right Hands of the Spirit)
Thier hooves represent them following thier Shepherd, each going to and fro together only after thier Shepard.
The rings, or wheels, is the threshing wheels upon the cart of YAHWEH. Also known as His chariot. The truth to all this is found throughout history, as each carved image in stone of any king in history, has them passing the wisdom of sowing and reaping and benefits of thier harvest. As well as seen as the " ox- goad" that the kings in Babylon and Egypt also are depicted with them as the tools of kingship, and the role of caretakers of thier people. Every carved image is different, but all have the tools of plowing and farming. Some has the symbol of the ankah of life, others have the wisdom of how by threshing they are to gain the right to the tree of life. This is the truth of all this now : To thresh the word of YAHWEH upon the earths threshing floors, one plows through the dust, and finds manna in it. Seeds that were planted by those before them. As you plow, you then reap what they have sown. ( wisdom ) Then at the end harvest, one if they have worked the ground for thier food as instructed in the beginning, then may have plenty of the fruit that by comes from this. Oil, wine, bread, corn, wheat, etc are all metaphor for the food of angels or the manna. Truth to this is in Exodus, of the manna and the quail. The quail is the early bird that catches the worm. This worm if caught, by this snipe bird in hunting for it, is able to eat through every element on the planet. And is what Solomon used to build his temple. There are no signs within the stars, other then for the times in which to farm by.
Now, the lights in the sky, before the stars were created, are angels that give light or enlightenment to man upon the earth. These are they like myself. We are known as all these things : the clouds of heaven whom is seen the Spirit coming upon, the thunders whoby only echo of the lightning or Iight of the truth within YAHWEH'S word.
As mankind, your only purpose was to thresh the word of your God only. Had you done as your kings before you had done, you all would have returned to the place where you had fallen from grace by. The garden/pardes/eden/paradise. This is how your ending will be.
At the beginning. Every man and woman shall sit under thier vine and thier own tree, in the end. If any has not threshed and have grown or collected any fruit when this harvest time is ended, they will be counted as barren tree's/fruitless, and will be thrown into the fire.
