Sixteen children and a handful of their mothers found the only door to their library room blocked by a man who held hunting knives in each hand as he screamed, “I’m going to kill some people!”

I'm not sure about most of you, but I'm not sure what to think about people these days.

It seems like more and more people are loosing their minds, and Especially in the younger age-brackets.

This attacker in this case also had child pornography charges against him, but little detail is given about that.

What in the world would prompt a 19 year old to go to a local library to kill other kids?

Was he after someone in particular at the library?

Thankfully the hero, in this case a 76 year old retired Army Vet, kind enough to be helping out and teaching at the chess club, was there to save the kids.

Here's a clip from the source:

He actually ran into the room yelling, ‘I’m going to kill some people!’ He was holding two knives” that Vernon described as “hunting types” with “fixed blades about 5 inches” long.

The children, ages 7 to 13, scurried under tables in the library’s Hauter Conference Room as Vernon stood before Brown.

“I tried to talk to him. I tried to settle him down,” he said. “I didn’t, but I did deflect his attention” from the children “and calmed him a bit. I asked him if he was from Morton, did he go to high school. I asked what his problem was. He said his life sucks. That’s a quote.”

As Vernon spoke, he stepped closer to Brown. “He backed away when I’d get closer.” With a few steps, Vernon put himself between Brown and the room’s door, with the children under the tables behind him.

“I gave them the cue to get the heck out of there, and, boy, they did that! Quick, like rabbits,” Vernon said.

I don't click on most links. Can you explain how the guy saved the kids? Thanks.

Read about this the other day, pretty sure he stood in either the door way or somewhere between him and the kids and fought with the guy and I believe disarmed him. He took some damage during the scuffle too but I think was the only guy harmed.

Oh look - another mentally unstable white male aged between 16 & 26 from the generation of "GTA is my reality". I wouldn't be surprised if it came out he is/was on psychotropics.

I wonder if the politicians are gonna hit CNN and Fox calling for the banning of large hunting knives while ignoring the root cause again?

The Army Vet is a hero in every sense of the word, and there will be many parents who will no doubt owe him an indescribable debt of gratitude.

The Hero..

Looks to me like the attacker has some kind of disability or condition. Wonder if he was under 'medication'.

Indeed.

If it were my kids, I'd be over there at his place helping out 'til he got better.

It would be the least I could do, in gratitude.

Hopefully some people will chip in to help pay for the medical expenses he suffered due to the knife wounds he suffered.

Yep drugging kids starting at an early age and thinking there will be no consequences later in life is not a smart move IMO. Money talks and reason is seldom heard though..

Hmm, he looks like an out of shape, goofey kid who spends all day in his mom's basement watching and doing I don't wanna know what. He almost looks like he wants to throw a temper-tantrum in that picture.

Considering he's up on kiddie porn charges, and apparently out on bail. Yea.. he's got 99 problems.

I know this might not be true is this case but:

I think we need to require some sort of constant monitoring of people who take psychotropics.

We have a prescription drug problem that appears to lead to abnormally violent behavior in some individuals. How many gun/knife related crimes that weren't gang related could have been prevalent by properly monitoring individuals who are known to have psychiatric problems?

Not all mentally ill people need to be in mental hospitals, but maybe they all need to be monitored for everyones protection, including their own.

Maybe if monitoring was required parents would seek alternative solutions to ADHD and depression before shoving pills into a developing mind.

We survived without these drugs for at least 6000 years our children don't need to be drugged they need to loved.

Wow, what a true hero. If I had a child who was there, I would forever be in debt to this guy. The families of these kids should get together, gather donations and throw one hell of party for this guy.

Their never gonna talk about the drugs these folks are on. Big Pharma makes sure of that. CNN & Fox are snuggled up together in big Pharma's pocket. The sheer amount of drug commercials on CNN is pathetic. We have become a drugged up and dumbed down nation. reply to: Sublimecraft

Sounds like he placed himself between the Pedo Bastard and the kids, allowing them to get the hell out of there. Respect to the gentlemen.

I can't find other pictures of Dustin Brown and the reason I'm looking is because, to me, he appears like he could have a form of Down Syndrome.

Maybe Mosaicism, a lesser degree of the syndrome?

Does anyone else see it or is it the just the picture?

Good on the old guy for saving the day. Too bad he didn't have a concealed pistol and could have just put the attacker where he deserves to be.....in the ground.

Hopefully the book gets thrown at this guy, but I have a feeling he will be back out on the street in a few years time.

It's a good thing the kid didn't have one either. Probably would have done way more damage.

Or is rhe only hypothetical allowed that a gun would have stopped this not made it worse?

I thought that the fluoride in our water was supposed to make us all docile? Or maybe mixing floride and antidepressants turn people into raving lunatics.
