The Dance Of Egos

You say you are right and I am wrong,
You say prove it and I say you prove it,
You launch your bombs and I duck for cover,
I launch my bombs and you duck for cover;

The dance of the egos,
It comes and goes,
You sway one way,
I sway the other;

You say my ego is bigger than yours,
I say your ego is bigger than mine,
Somewhere in the middle of it all,
The innocent get hurt and take the fall;

Is your ego more important than mine,
Is my ego more important than yours,
Do the innocent matter to you,
Do they matter to me;

As long as we fail to understand,
The ego is not the ruling hand,
Those that matter the most,
Will suffer the most;

If I put my ego away will you,
If I lay my guns down will you,
If I promise to Love you will you love me too,
If I decide my ego is useless,
If I make the choice to honor my Soul,
If I make the effort to be the selfless being I can be;

Will you join me in that effort,
Or will you ignore me and continue,
Clinging to that ego being,
Enslaved by your false ideas;

Can you make that change,
Would you take the first step,
Do I have to be the one that changes the music,
Who takes the first chance,
Must the egos always dance?

Ego must go! Well, at least most of it. As long as we hold on to our ego, there won't be unity.

On a personal level you can hide your ego :
but swallowing your pride hurts your throat .

On a national level , ego starts wars , that no-one wins.
This hurts your nation's heart .

On a global level , ego is a self destructive menace.
This will , tragically , hurt everyone .

Tolerance is ego forsaken . Live and let live .
As much as we would like to change others ,
we can only lead by example ...

On some level I agree, egos get in the way, but on another level I think we need some ego as a protective measure, when it gets in the way of a peaceful resolution, that is where I think egos need to take a bath.
