Dr. Ben Carson Suspends Campaign For Book Tour

Well... wow. Carson has gained on Trump whom everyone suspects will begin to fall apart really soon and decides to stop... for a book tour. A book tour? I'm flabbergasted... lots of things come to mind.

I met Carson on a book tour in 20012. Nice guy, signed my book, and gave a good talk. President? Welp, may be that he should keep up the book tours and give his positive message of rising from poverty, his common sense method of risk assessment, and the inspirational example he set. President? Welp - too wacky on stuff he does not understand.

Sorry for the harsh assessment, but he contributes exceptionally in many areas. Being the executive of the the US would be a steep learning curve for him. I wonder why he is even trying these thick pants on...

I don't think anything like this has ever been done. In 2007 McCain and Obama both suspended their campaigns to go back to Washington DC to deal with the financial crisis. A book tour!? I can't get over it lol!

Well, since he has to fund raise (he isn't rich and the establishment sure isn't going to do him any favors) he has to separate events as I would assume there are laws or money separation rules he must follow. Notice you are using a Republican Establishment source... of course they are going to bash him.

The campaign has been careful to separate campaign events and the book tour, and doesn’t want to classify the tour as related to the campaign in any way.

This week he is catching up on fundraising events and will be back on his book tour next week making stops in Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska and Iowa. So for the next two weeks, Carson won't be appearing at any public "campaign events."

Carson will be going back and forth between campaign fundraising events and book tour events over the next two weeks. His campaign says he has over 20 campaign fundraising events scheduled over that time period.

Actually, I think it might be a very clever move...His book will be a guaranteed BEST SELLER and he'll draw huge crowds at his books signings. He'll also be doing many tv interviews to publicize his campaign, along with his book.

The GOP has asked Carson to step aside so Trump can get all the attention. In turn Trump will step aside for Jeb.

This is a very carefully crafted and designed strategy by the Republicans.

In the very near future look for Jebs poll numbers to skyrocket.

Meh, it's only a couple of weeks. I could see if he suspended until the New Year it would be newsworthy. It's actually kind of a brilliant move if you think about. Working on his celebrity status rather than his political one..

Just because Hillary's book tour bombed...doesn't mean Dr. Carson's will.

It's just so he doesn't get into trouble with his new book and no one says he is using the Presidential campaign to make personal money. He'll be back for the next GOP debate... Honestly the election isn't till 2016 and he's doing just fine...

Contracts.... when you publish a book you may be obligated to do tours and appearances.

No you aren't, that is all just marketing. Sounds like he is just taking advantage of the situation and played us all. Saw that he had little chance and now his book is going to get a boost from all this.

I'm pretty sure he was already running when Sentinel bought his book and that he could have negotiated a contract that didn't include a book tour and that Sentinel wouldn't have minded at all.
