Had the politicians not lied and Congress not gutted the budgets year in and year out in favor of welfare and a Roman Army equivalent we might be there by now.

Precisely, to the first point. Although, technically you're wrong about actual "gutted budgets". The theatrics of defunding space programs is a blatant lie from the government and a placation to public scrutiny. The reason the "officially" make the cuts to civilians is because people tend to ask questions when billions of R&D dollars allocated result in little or no news of progress in the press. Then they would need to jump through firey hoops to justify expenditures and cost analysis. The smaller the budget, the lesser amount of queries, the less government needs to disclose, and the more they can milk the herd. Trickles of information and material progression. To an extent, they made the business model used for flat screen TVs and smartphones.

This is why NASA and other complicit agencies feign the importance and interest in, what is (was), the utmost pivotal steps to take for scientific advancement and discovery for mankind. This is why they've claimed to have stopped programs to got to the Moon in the late '70's. Claiming our closest celestial neighbor is just a dead rock of no intrinsic value. It's duplicity at its worst. The current public space programs are a front to back door deals being exploited by the arrogant few who believe they are entitled. " Nothing to see here folks....there's no gold in this mine! Now move along. Hey, look yonder! There's a wraslin' match down the road, to keep y'all preoccupied!, now shoo!"

Look, when close to three quarters of the government's annual budget goes to "Defense" spending, or trillions of dollars go missing or are unaccounted for, where do you think this money goes? Politician's co'ke habits and/or vacations? Do you think the absurdly endowed really need a new villa? This money is going to black projects and covert space programs. These funds go to hush money in the form of payoffs, layoffs, and knockoffs of persons involved or aware. These monies go to tech, 50-100 years ahead of your fancy little IPAD.

They distract us with war, terror, war on terror, and inendated/obsolete telemetry, transports, and reports. It's the biggest hoax to humanity in history. If/as the public gets closer to the uncomfortable truth, the wardens get more extreme, and violent, like a wild animal backed into a corner. They use the most base human conditions of fear and hatred against their flock, to perpetually keep them on the defensive, too busy dancing in a field of hot coals and landmines, to reach a degree of complacency or content to notice indiscretions, inconsistencies, and ambient "noise", looming in the background. It's classic sleight of hand.

The one immutable factor they inadvertently and subsequently forget, as show throughout human history, is that water always strives for level. And all debts will be paid. Currently, humanity is in a rare juxtaposition at the precipice of evolution. A mighty leap in transcendence. All of the signs and signatures are in place for this change to be cultivated, fostered, and groomed. It's all playing out right NOW in the global arena. All the fuss between the two halves of the sphere, with the Eastern anf Western powers posturing for domain, it all hangs in the balance. Critical times you live in.
