Sucks for you. Been around, trained, and used guns most my life. My kids grew up around them, own multiples. Can also do far more damage than what a gun can do via other methods. It's funny that all these decades no one in my family has had an issue. In all these decades only showed a gun once but outnumbered badly. Not a gun problem, people problem. Your countries lack of guns isn't my issue and my countries access to guns isn't yours. Anyone in the US against guns shouldn't get one. I support their right to do that. I would also appreciate those anti gun people in the US not using armed security to protect them while claiming they themselves don't need one.

All honesty don't really care if other countries don't like guns in America. Don't care if Americans don't either. Go chase down poor parents, criminals, and aholes prone to snap. I had no problem raising responsible kids who have never shot anyone more used any of their other access or training to indiscriminately hurt people. Nor have I.

These are terrible stories, it sucks. We have a real people problem here. Guns are going nowhere, guns are not getting banned. Rant away.

Spot on! They sit in their ivory towers with armed guards and their little girls are escorted to and from school everyday.

The day Barry and Michelle are sitting in some blight of an apartment in the middle of a complex the size of a small city, and a couple of crack heads who have been watching their little girls at play all day, decide to break and enter and inflict harm, maybe then he would get it. When seconds count, the cops are just minutes away.

If you are referring to the UK there is not to many if any "ivory towers with armed guards" to my knowledge. And the only person escorting my little girl to school would be myself or partner, she is only 8 after all.

Plenty of blighted apartments with countless crack heads doing the rounds all the same. People do indeed break and enter and inflict harm over here all the time the difference being they are seldom armed with guns.

That is a shame. I can't imagine anything more horrifying than to watch a couple of thugs rape your wife and children and you just sit there tied to a post watching. How would a man live with that? I could be wrong but even without guns the US and UK homicide rate is like a 16% difference with us in the lead. I think UK was ranked 44th in world homicide rate and the US was like 30th. Could be off, going off memory here.

I had no punishment for doing so, didn't even go to court as it was seen to be reasonable force.

I do not think the boy had murderous intent. I think that in a culture saturated with violent movies and video games he didn't understand the difference between fantasy and reality, and a culture that reinforces yielding to every impulse for instant gratification, whether in virtual reality or real life, just guarantees the outcome. A gun makes acting out an impulse or whim so much easier than a baseball bat or knife does.
The genie is out of the bottle in the US, and there is no putting it back in, not with more guns than people in existence. I think eventually the gov't will try to make everyone retrofit their guns with "smart" triggers that will only allow the owner to fire. Predictably, this will not go over well, and make criminals of most gun owners. There are no easy answers, all we can do is watch society circle the bowl on it's downward spiral.

Look at Mexico's rate. Look at the enormous illegal immigrant population in America, mostly from Mexico. You don't think there might be a connection here?? Another reason to stay armed, imo.
