I agree.

The idea, overall, with these deals is to level the field on a global scale. The wealthier economies will be degraded and the poorer brought up until they all even out, making 7 billion humans equally capable consumers. Lawyers, get in line... good times ahead.

Not a fan.

The average American hasn't even heard of the TPP, no less have any clue what it contains.
In short it's a Pandora's box of giveaways to the multinational corporations who will no longer have to abide by the laws of their host countries.

It basically erases every forward step for workers and the environment made in the last 100 years with the swipe of a pen.

I would like some specific examples on why the TPP takes away our rights. I heard that it has strict intellectual property rights protocols, for example, leading to a few negative outcomes. I'm not doubting the deal is bad, I just want to know more about why.

I'm not surprised, since the talks were held in secret and the only ones letting anything slip ATM are the very people who decided this deal. Nobody will know what's in the details until it's been scrutinized and ratified and that might take years.

TPP replaces NAFTA, btw.

As well as our Constitution since the laws of foreign countries where corporations are based will be used in the US whenever it is to the benefit of said corporation to do so. Imagine Chinese environmental regulations being applied in California - their water and air pollution standards will replace those of the US and the state of California. Same goes for ALL your workers rights and benefits; 40 hour week becomes 60 hour week at same pay or you could just let a foreign guest worker take your job. That's just the tip of this iceberg which is more like half of Antarctica breaking off.
Our borders will become meaningless in every way.
The One World Government is paving it's way in to the last bastion of freedom.
There will be equality among the peons, at the point of a gun if necessary.

Words fail to express my disdain and outright hatred of what's in the TPP.
It is high treason against the people and the Constitution.

I wanna know this...

The entire agreement was done in secret away from the legislature. Now they will vote. Will they now get to read it? Will the details be published?

If not, WTF is Congress doing? Enacting law which which will adversely affect Americans (from all accounts) written by someone else?

It would be at that point we could safely consider them complete criminal whores. Can we storm the castle, boil them in oil, and throw out this malignant 'agreement'?

Yeah, it's NAFTA and steroids to say the least. Anyone unfamiliar should look into even this site's info on it with NLBS - www.abovetopsecret.com... for starters.

Congress is bought and sold. Once the TPP had the Fast track it was almost a go ahead for what may happen next, a signing off of it.

I read about it in the Seattle Times today, and it didn't sound nearly as evil as everyone is making it out to be. In fact, they said it will push some higher standards on some of these countries that have very low standards right now. They did say though that some people are worried it will cost jobs.

I hope this is true:

in a statement Monday, the trade ministers in Atlanta said the TPP has safeguards that prevent “abusive and frivolous claims and ensure the right of governments to regulate in the public interest, including on health, safety, and environmental protection.”

Anything you are told in advance about TPP is a lie. How can you Canadians and US Americans not be rioting in the streets when your governments are going to make something into LAW in your countries that you the average citizens aren't even allowed to read... but if you are a PR person of a major corporation you have already read the damned thing and helped to author it!!!!

The governments in North America must be drugging the people. There is no way in hell that something like the TPP would have gotten through just twenty years ago.

The only U.S. politicians I have heard tackle the problem of TPP is Marcy Kaptur-D of Ohio. Before she could read the thing, she was forced to sign a document that she would not mention anything in the document, and she was not allowed to take any notes or cell phone photos while reading it. Can you get anymore "1984" on steroids?!

I had no doubt the TPP would pass when Corporate and Banking Faacists own our government.

Who "agreed" with this raw deal? Talk about under the table deals going on. Wow! Welcome to the Corporated United States of the Fed.

I am sick to my stomach.

For me, it also smacks of a redefined form of feudalism which really never fully went away. Rather than the Monarchy and Church, in the day, it has evolved to Corporations and Gov'ts.

Correct, but the minute someone mentions "Fascism" or "Feudalism", people come out of the woodwork, jumping up and down, screaming, "but you live in a rich developed country, so you have no idea how good you have it"

The USA, AS A WHOLE, has more qualities aligning with Mercantilism, Neo-Feudalism and Fascism, than it does socialism or social democracy, as practiced in Europe. The reality is that USA has far more in common with countries like China or India, when it comes to business practices and economic policy, when compared to countries like Germany or Switzerland. So, just because Americans CHOOSE to NOT label such policies as "Fascist" doesn't change the reality of what they really are.

Both Neo-Fuedalism and Fascism thrive and have found a permanent home in the United States. Unlike other countries, the American education system is so poor that that so-called "highly educated" people cannot recognize that they are indeed Fascists sympathizers. Why? Because the education these persons received, over their lifetime, taught them virtually nothing about what Fascism, Feudalism and the Mercantilist economy really are and therefore these people are HIGHLY susceptible to messages promoting Fascist policies.

The United States is a former “slave owning nation” that fought “tooth and nail” to maintain the legal right to own slaves. Even worse, U.S. business owners turned indentured servants, whom by contract, were set to be released in 7 years, into indefinite slaves through legal loopholes and it was all done with the state, local and federal governments turning a blind-eye to the practice. Yet, after all that, the USA still has a form of indentured servitude via H-1B visa program we see today.

So, I ask, AGAIN, can we REALLY expect responsible business leadership and INFORMED opinions about labor relations from a nation that was formed on these values?

No, we cannot and its a COMPLETELY lost cause.

The average American hasn't even heard of the TPP, no less have any clue what it contains.

Too many Americans have FULLY bought into an illusion that says “one day, you too, can be a slave owner”. Due to this false belief, sadly, most folks in USA are too far gone and there is no going back for them. This nation is filled with people whom are nothing more than mouthpieces and apologists for Robber Barron’s, who’s contemporary beliefs and actions are similar to the Corporatist Italian Fascist of 1922-1943. But due to poor education and little experience with international travel, Americans can not see the historical similarities between the USA with the rise and fall of Fascism during the period of 1922-1945. On top of that, Americans have little ability to learn objectively and even less ability to take in new cultural information or understanding alternative perspectives proposed by foreigners. The USA, is not currently, a place of true “life-time learning”, because in the USA that’s really just the name of a "tax credit".

The sad reality is that people speaking out against Unionization and/or improved labor protections, MUST be RECOGNIZED NOW and IDENTIFIED IMMEDIATELY, as a modern day "Squadristi" (Italian Fascist squads that would participate in strikebreaking, organizing tax strikes in socialist controlled towns and intimidating voters at election time). Make no mistake, these modern-day "Squadrismo" are the enemy to ALL people whom oppose the tenants Fascism, Mercantilism and Feudalism. These people CAN NOT be saved or reasoned with and to do any less than AGGRESSIVELY FIGHTING THEM, puts those whom oppose their kind in grave danger. These kinds of people cannot and should not be given the benefit of the doubt, at this stage, because they are VERY MUCH like those Dutch, whom “traded slaves”, but claimed they also “did not own slaves”.

"The Wealth of Nations", by Adam Smith, is perhaps the most damning text ever written against Labor . All laborers, even those running small businesses and independent contractors, ALL suffer today because of business executives worshiping the tenents of that text. But American "Robber Barron apologists" blindly continue to support the true "Owners of Capital" regardless of the economic outcomes.

Large portions of the USA populace cannot and are unwilling to be swayed at this juncture because they prefer “having the legal option to form dynasties” based on inherited wealth and the legally recourse to incrementally claim economic power over others, even though NONE of them will EVER acquire enough wealth to take advantage of such legal situations. Also note, "sympathizers" are not always fully committed Fascists because they will shift positions aligning with the dominant culture around them, as needed, to personally get ahead. Most of these types only become Real Fascists, IF, they have a chance to gain power, by fully committing (a well known historical example of this is the Jüdischer Ordnungsdienst). So, lets stop lying to ourselves, this Fascist mindset spread among the U.S. culture, as a whole, is too deeply embedded in their psyche and is NEVER going away, EVER! Adopting sustainable economics polices and business strategies is, quite simply, impossible for the U.S. culture and its entrenched business climate. Whats even worse, is that the above sentiment doesn’t even begin to address the U.S. populations inability to work together and cooperate to ACCOMPLISH ANYTHING!

The overall FACT is, that the USA is now nothing more than a 2nd world, fascist stronghold. The USA has not been a real 1st World nation since the mid to late 1990’s, at the latest. Within the United States there is a crazy paradox that exists, where Fascists thinker roam everywhere, but none “think” they are actually a Fascist. GIVE NO QUARTER to those "closeted fascists" because they are like those Germans whom "informed the SS" on perceived wrongdoings, being done by their unsuspecting neighbors. Those "informant sheep" WILLINGLY sent fellow human beings to their deaths and then slept well at night, without guilt, believing that they were the "Good Germans". These people can not be saved, they are the enemy. Identify them, oppose their positions and stand firm, ALWAYS, against their belief in Fascist policies.

All that # started over hundred years ago..
To allow the distribution of wealth, even if it seems natural, is the biggest mistake ever, it can only work if there is no currency but there is for a long long time now, and the world gets more and more fkd up due to it.

Looks like we are heading straight to the future as seen on Continuum (TV Series).. Politician$
