That's really interesting stuff, punkinworks10. Smoking in that sense is not something I had considered. Not sure what I think of it yet, I'll need to ruminate it a little, but I like bits and pieces of that a great deal.

Excellent point about Thera and 1600 BCE. There are a number of ways that that would have had impact upon the global environment, but particularly the northern hemisphere. Traders with routes directly and indirectly meeting up with the Med region would have been disrupted. Some traders, relying on seasonal currents, may have been stranded in Britain for a lot longer than anticipated before trade resumed.
