1994, y2k, December 21 2012, and now September 23, 2015

Does anybody remember a book called 1994 by Harold Camping? Y2k came and went and so did 2012.
It seems to me that a number of people put so much time and energy into trying to figure out when the end time is going to be.

Mathew 24:36, clearly states, ''But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my father only.''

I understand that not everyone has faith in the bible, but those who do, does this bible passage mean nothing?

I have a friend who told me to watch ytube video with Jonathan Chan. Once I watched to the point of him talking about the end times I stopped watching because as I a Christian, Mathew 24:36 is clear enough to me.

I guess we have till the end of September to see if "the end" plays out.

Maybe as some have said, September 23rd will be the beginning of the end.

All I know is that I choose to live in the here and now.

Well, its the 24th. Today was like any other. What does the beginning of the end look like?

Come now humanity has a long history of predicting the end, and then it not happening. It is embarrassing for the "prophets" usually, some recant, some slink off, most do the "sorry this just in its next week/month/year" line.

So no the Bible means nothing to me. But I do study these things for my amusement. Y2K could have sucked balls, but it got fixed, the so called end of the Mayan Calendar, was really just a hoax, and misunderstandings. This latest one? Yeah sod that, its just another "date" thrown out IMHO. If I am wrong, then I will fully apologize and make peace with my Gods (yeah plural). I am certain I am not wrong however.

It is always beginning of an end, so hopefully, it goes from beginning to actually progressing as well. Or otherwise it never ends. Which would be terrible. Like these threads about end coming. They are never ending.

I have to disagree. I have an OK life. Up and downs like everyone but I don't complain and even if I did who would listen.

Anyway everytime one of these dates pops up. Atleast the ones with a decent back story of why. Not just some guys dream. I find myself hoping it would happen already. A few years ago I kept hoping the would be some sort of revolution and before 2012 I was hoping for a great awakening or spiritual accension . So far all the dates have been duds,

Again I am not unhappy with my life. I just feel we need a change the intire planet needs a change. There is no reason we should have people starving to death when other people throw away millions of pounds of food.
Why children should be suffering and sick because of lack of medical attention when other countries spend hundreds of millions on plastic surgery .

It just doesn't seem right. It just ain't right. The system in place is not working. I don't think the changes nessasary to make this world what it could and should be will ever happen. So I think a reboot will be the only way. So wether it's Satan ,lucifer or reptlians or just regular greedy selfish people whom ever it is that has this planet and it's inhabitants living in such disarray . It needs to end. Every generation thinks the end of times is in their time. Things must have looked pretty bleak during the middle ages, for example, when most everyone died of the plague, right? Or many other times that were worse than ours.

And guess what, it's gonna keep going, longer than any religious text.

People know very little we cant agree on anything, no ones on the same page. Its always about money, hell posting in this thread makes someone money somewhere down the line. Fact humans have nothing left to conquer but each other, we will kill ourselves because we cant beat nature.

It just baffles me though, that in this day and age, as the ''end'' dates keep coming and nothing happens, that people don't give up on trying to figure out when our last days are. Especially, the people who get their info from the bible. As I stated in the Op, do they do they just ignore Mathew 24:36?

Prophecies of end times will come and go more frequently than the generations of man, one of these days we will get it right, I'm sure.

If every man were to choose a different date, someone would be right, would they not?

I've said this in a few of the threads I've participated in.

Humans are fascinated with the end. It's unknown, it's generally inconceivable, and it's powerful (either terrifying or wonderful, depending on who you talk to). For some it's the beginning of something new, for others it's the end of everything.

Every culture virtually has a prophecy of the end. Every religion, every civilization, and most schools of thought. It's just human nature.

Where I draw the line is when those cease being predictions and start to become poison. An example is when lives are lost for the sake of this prophecy, it's happened with some of these predictions before - and that is when it's gone beyond the realm of what I'd consider acceptable fodder.

That is also why I remain vigilant on individuals that inject what they think is a "bullet proof, scientific theory" into their prediction that clearly is not, but could be interpreted that way in the minds of the gullible. We had at least one of those on ATS this month too.

I never thought that it was God's time to start the end, but I thought the illuminati had this day planned as thier attempt this generation. I am surprised that there was no stock market crash but I am also really happy it didn't happen, I bought 4 blocks of chocolate for my wife and kids to have as treats yesterday (lasts about a month at my place) and I lie being able to do that. I am glad I can flush the toilet and let the local government deal with it at the sewerage plant. I'm glad I can drive my car around still. I am glad the local police officer hasn't stayed home because he wasn't getting paid.

But really, did it hurt me to get 3 months of dry goods that I would normally use anyway? I invested in beans, flour, polenta, semolina, canned cooking oils, 15 pounds of sugar, etc. I am going to go through it all in next 6 months and most of it even less, but I have decided to replae it as I go through it. I figure that 3 months of food basics as well as the vegetables, fruit and eggs I produce on my town block, anything I can forage or barter will give me about 6 months head start over most people, by that time most of them will be dead. I got $1000 out of the atm on the 22nd, so what, I can either use it or put it back in. What did all of this cost me? Around $20 in lost interest.

I think the "big day is supposed to be September 28th". I'm not saying I think anything will happen but I think that's the full super tetriad (sp?) blood Jewish party moon thing. Maybe the 23rd was a farce to throw off the masses! Lol to much internet

I am still amused people believing in bible, even its proven so many times over to be full of illogical things...

For example, god created 2 great lights... and today we know there are billions upon billions of stars (great lights) and 2 actually mentioned in bible turn out to be one and reflection of it?!

Why believe in something like that, but not believe in story of Red Riding Hood, or Santa Clause visiting every kid on earth in one night... or any other Gods we human made up in stories before this most popular one?!

And just to stay on topic, end times are coming, but this time for earth, witch will be swallowed by growing Sun, but life on earth would be impossible for billion of years before that happens... and all of this will take place as our galaxy merges with Andromeda...

To the ancient person writing out what he saw in that vision ... they looked like two great lights and the stars would have been lesser lights had they been mentioned.

But of course, we can penalize people of a different time and different level of understanding for not being as "enlightened" as we are.

It is not me claiming that bible is words/voice of God, but those reading this as literal rather then fantasy book.

But if what you wrote is true, why would so many people spend so much time reading about someone easily diagnosed with schizophrenia (voices telling him to kill his own child?! can it get worst then that) and/or all other uneducated guesses those who wrote bible did?! What is the big deal?? Just fairy stories, like rest of them, don't you agree??

And please don't use enlightened sword in this case... if they were enlightened as you claim, women would not be more then sell-able commodity and slavery would be condemned, not recommended and instructed...

Turns out that impending doom is a very important part of our survival.

Jesus did give a hint as to when Tribulation will begin. He stated in Matthew 24:19: "But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath". He gives the season and the day of the week.
