Let's start with the fact that the Nazi's (National Socialists) weren't socialist. Go.

They were the *epitome* of master collectivism.

From Hitler's book Mein Kampf, Chapter 7

We chose red for our posters after particular and careful deliberation, our intention being to irritate the Left, so as to arouse their attention and tempt them to come to our meetings – if only in order to break them up – so that in this way we got a chance of talking to the people.

Ahh. a great example of controlled opposition and jealousy.

The OP is an opinion piece in a fairly well-known right wing blog.

There is no evidence, nor proof, nor facts for the idea that "socialism breeds racism" either in the article or the comments in this discussion.

It is a well-known and well established fact that the German word Sozialismus was not used by the Nazi party to promote Marxist socialism but to oppose it.

Trying to muddy the water with the interminable red herring that the Nazis were "left wing" is just a variation on Godwin's law.

The political Left represents individual rights and freedoms; the political Right represents government control and nationalism.

That's just what the terms mean.

American political parties are neither purely Left or Right; both majority parties incorporate elements of both philosophies.

Socialism, with an emphasis on a classless economy, does not breed racism.

Capitalism, on the other hand, emphasizes and creates a system of "haves and have nots," which relates directly to many racist ideologies.

Period.

Socialism does indeed produce racism as we have seen that play out with the Martins, and Ferguson's.

My comprehension may be a little off today. Pardon.
I was certain the Martin slaying, and the Ferguson riot were connected to racism when I saw multiple ethnicity's standing together protesting lethal force being used on unarmed citizens by police...

Yeah, something about that statement doesn't fly.

I dare insert Zionist policies in your statement above where you use the word Socialism.
Before you answer, you should count how many state reps enjoy dual citizenship with the most racist state on the planet.

Then what your missing is the funding via Soros that financed those 'demonstrations'. The outside activists, etc., not to mention an appeasing police force and prosecutor that refused to charge individuals connect to those 'protests'.

Party time...

Once again, which party did Byrd belong to?

The left spin says the racists moved to the right. Some did, some stayed home....LIKE BYRD.

Not that long since states like Florida, Texas, Tennessee moved. Zero to do with racism as the original article validly pointed out, racism exists everywhere, including a largely, much more socialist Europe. That was the point of the thread. Sander shouldn't throw stones from an equally glass house....

Socialism, so poorly understood by this writer, is to give the means of production to the "people". Which only means that the " people" must create some kind of mutual administration system that allows the fruits of production to benefit the "people".

It's really just another scheme to make rich assholes richer. And it is the worst kind of scheme as it purports to be the champion of the working class it is screwing over.

What socialism has in common with racism is the common root of often ugly collectivism.

What more of an extreme example of how caustic and corrosive to society collectivism can be than racism?

The following article by Ben Shapiro counters the idea that somehow socialism is beyond racism.townhall.com...

If Ben Shapiro's article is what passes for intellectual journalism, then America is in deep trouble. Shapiro is stating nothing more than his own cultural predilection at the cost of self-ignominy as he seeks to validate the system he worships.

Here's a comment which more than counters Shapiro. My thanks to poster 'Murgatroid ' for the link. Certainly offers food for thought.

Racism is a product of capitalism. It grew out of early capitalism’s use of slaves for the plantations of the New World, it was consolidated in order to justify western and white domination of the rest of the world and it flourishes today as a means of dividing the working class between white and Muslim or black, and native and immigrants or asylum seekers.

libcom.org...

It is essential to understand that what truly divides us is not genetic traits, but mindsets and culture. If the debate can get past the fallacious genetic trait argument, we can then begin the debate where the real conflicts arise, the setting of one mindset and culture against others, and capitalism and capitalists employ that very tactic, and work the argument behind two veils to hide their insidious subterfuge: the veil of 'race', and the veil of politics.

No one holds Shapiro's article as the 'new Constitution'. I does point out the other side of the coin that Sanders stated were 'fact'. No more merit...or less for either viewpoint.

Just a rebuttal.

If it is merely cultural, I prefer mine, thank you very much....but that's just me...

Well said. Although I believe the author was addressing a specific point concerning socialism rather than a dissertation on socialism over all.

A simple point in rebut to how 'racist' America is.

They seem to forget who settled the US, and WHO started the slave trade here.

Answer: Europeans.

All America's 'sin's' came from Europe.
