A bad solution or a poorly implemented solution doesn't mean the problem doesn't exist. I agree with you that Carbon trading as is, from what I've read, isn't doing enough, if anything to fix the problem.

There's better ways to implement cap and trade, it's been massively successful with the ozone layer... but it's not the only solution by any means, not even the most favorable. Getting away from fossil fuels is and we aren't that far off from nailing that.

Yes and no. If it were natural I would argue to not do anything about it... to adapt as best we can without trying to alter anything. But the reality, as you know, is the opposite, we altered the atmosphere in a way that's causing heat retention. Now we have to agree to find the best way to stop doing that so the problem stops worsening.

An update to my EPA thread, and ties quite nicely in to this one.

High Crimes and Misdemeanors: Resolution to Impeach EPA Head To Be Introduced in Congress

We are asking the Democratic Party to have President Obama declare the river a disaster area — and we haven't gotten anything. Nothing,” he said. “The Democrats? I don't know what happened. We basically are Democrats. We always vote Democrat. But it seems like they've just walked away. And we're not hearing anything that's of value to us from the Democrats.”

You start by admitting the fact that WE have been adding to what mother nature does naturally.

Mother nature didn't over fish the oceans.
Mother nature isn't dumping oil and killing the environment.
Mother nature isn't burning huge amounts of coal for electricity.
Mother nature isn't dumping radioactive sludge into the ocean.
Mother nature didn't wipe out over 40% of the rain forests.
Mother nature isn't creating holes in the ozone layer.
Mother nature is getting out paced by us in our efforts to do as we please and over use the resources we have available.

O zon ehole... LOL want to hear something ironic? its on the way to being totally fixed but the catch is th estuff that was doing it was replaced by something that is causing warming instead. LOL.

OK. US wasnt the ones chopping down the rainforest. Also Oil occurs naturally at times and it does sometimes spill out and kill off animals. Coal useage is less than 10 percent worldwide these days with china leading the way in its use.
Point is there are studies for and against that are very convincing and backed up by science. Government paid scientist say what th egovernment wants them to say.

Man made climate change, is the new western imperialism being forced on the planet. but it's okay, because man made global warming.

Pretty much the only thing that is missing is the Gitmo for eco terrorists, and 'green' wars.

Is that part fixed?? I don't keep up with climate stuff too much so I'll take your word for it.

Who cares who did it. It's still an issue. So is the Tar Sands. So is spent fuel rods from Nuclear Energy. Then there is the huge amounts of plastic floating in the oceans. The reefs being damaged. The over fishing. The wild life with plastic in their bellies. The Toxins. The Radiation from Fukashima. Etc. I don't care who's doing what since we're all on this rock together we all need to take care of it.

There are solutions to some of these things too but until we quit arguing about whether or not the earth is being damaged we won't even start to try and help. Hell, I'm even someone who agrees that to fix nature just means we need to step away and she'll fix herself. Sometimes we screw things up more by trying to fix our screw ups. But we have to get on the same page at some point. All the BS needs to stop.

AGW has not been proved.

Some warming and increased CO2 speeds up plant growth, evaporates more rain water, and reduces the amount of energy burned for heating.

TPTB never reduce, let alone cancel, a new tax.

AGW is so good for world socialism, they would have had to invent it, if they hadn't already.

I don't even see how man made global warming is a debatable issue anyway. I mean, who cares? Even if we find the culprit, we eventually have to stop polluting like we do now!

I blame corporations for relying on planned obsolescence for profit, oil/coal/nuclear energy companies for suppressing cleaner energy sources, excessive packaging and the people who encourage those practices when alternative are already available.

I found this funny.

I still keep seeing that more scientists and scientific organizations and College Science departments etc, than not, claim we are in an excelerated cycle of warming due to man made cause, irregardless or in tandem with any natural cycle. So....I'm still going to have to go with most scientists on this one.

www.youtube.com...

Can't imbed yet. LOL Sorry.

According to Ivar Giaever, Climate Change is a Hoax. Says part of the warming trends (1880 to 2013: 1 ((.03%)) degree in over 100 years or ) is due to the studies using the oceans rather than just land as in the past at least, as well as warming climates could be a great thing rather than doom porn.

Who is Ivar Giaver?
Nobel Laureate Smashes the Global Warming Hoax

Ivar points out the mistakes which Obama makes in his speeches about global warming, and shares other not-well known facts about the state of the climate.

"I think the average temperature of the earth equals the Emperor's New Clothes"

So it's a hoax, a scheme for the owners to dip further into our empty pockets. A hoax.

You are the one suggesting those who lie should be thrown in jail.
Guess that does not apply to your idol obama no matter what damage he does

Yeah smart guy except he's not my idol. Next time know who it is your talking to.

I'm also not saying throw people in jail for lying either. But I do think in some situations that false reporting should be a crime.

The fact that we just let anyone deceive the populace without any recourse is pretty stupid. People can and do get killed because of false reporting and lying and they should be held accountable.

But only on the subjects you decide are " important " right?

You know what you are doing right?

It is a behavior pattern known as zealotry.

It is a form of extremism.

Just like the wacko Muslim's think you should be jailed even killed if you don't say what they demand about Islam.

Because of their extremist zealotry.

Glad we could straighten that out.

The "alarmers" have been investigated multiple times based on the lies of deniers... cleared, every time.

Cleared by who.... the very same funded pier review people and governmental departments who are pushing climate ??? whatever they are calling it today... hahahah sorry couldn't resist..

Now if the statement or intent would have said they are going after ANYONE who has falsified data or changed numbers to make an outcome appear certain when the facts/real data are otherwise I could get on that band wagon and let the chips fall where they may.. But to prosecute any dissenting opinions is something straight out of North Korea, Mao's China , USSR, et al..

Hard to believe people can't see the dangerous tone and president this could set.

As usual neo - you think there should be a simple answer. You appear to think that if there is no simple answer it's evidence of no answer - and deceit

Truth be told - I think you, and the rest of the people that are in the denial category - suspect there's more to all this than they feel comfortable addressing. So they don't

Trust me - I get that - and I sympathize

Many people have moved past that point, did a bit of grieving - and are now focused on the future. Those numbers are growing everyday

It's going to take a lot of different approaches in many different areas over a period of time. Energy, environment, agriculture, economics - population - education...there is no area that concerns humanity that won't be affected

Politics - definitely

You won't like what's coming next - and that's the truth. None of us will

I wish we could have a real conversation about this, but I understand that that's not possible. Not here at ATS - not outside either

It makes me sad. Seriously - desperately, unbelievably, almost unmanageably sad

Having said that - I read things everyday that give me hope

:-)

Oh yah, that's it. I'm such an extremist when it comes to climate change. What a regular Perry Mason you are to cleverly figure me out like that. What a Zealot I am??? Actually discussing possible Racketeering or fraud on an online forum.

I think you're still high from your surgery buddy.

Glad we got that straightened out.

I agree with the Democrats a lot, I even agree with them on Climate Change. However I don't like their tendency to want to *shush* people with different views than theirs.

I think in their mind, their views are superior because they are scientific, and therefore other views shouldn't be allowed to exist. But I think that other views should always be allowed to exist. I think time would be better spent arguing with people who have other views than making laws forcing them to be silenced.

Justly curios, how many years back do we have accurate temperature readings? How old is the earth? What's that come out to percentage wise?

If you were really interested in understanding this situation you wouldn't be asking me this question - you would be out there reading. Just the same as me

Heck I would like to see an agreed upon name for the problem before trying to solve it.

Really? This is all that's holding you back from getting involved?
