PLEASE DO NOT USE AN OUIJA BOARD!! Especially when you have a young family. These things are not to be tampered with.

Get a digital tape recorder from Walmart or someplace like that and attempt to record the music.
That would be step one.
(you can either wait until you hear the music then place the recorder in your kids room, or place it in the room for the evening and check it in the morning, some of the tape recorders will record several hours worth if left alone and they are cheap, I think the one I got to0 do the palmer house investigation only cost me around 40 bucks)
Then once you get it, bring it back here so we can hear it.

There could be a lot of possibilities.
You might be hearing a neighbors music, or, it could be a paranormal event, but regardless, get it recorded as a first step.

Other questions I would have are along the lines of if this is the first time you have experienced anything weird like this?
How long have you lived where you are living?
Is it a house or a duplex?
Apartment?

Maybe take some pictures of the area you think it is coming from as well.

Yeah, like the kinda 'tobacco' your smokin, lol.

I used to hear the tv all the time (when it wasn't even on), when I was a teenager well munching out in the kitchen.... Back in the day.

Paranormal? I highly doubt it. But please, I'd love for ya to prove me wrong... Life can be so mundane and I did enjoy the story.

Peace

Dear OP, I once looked after a cat who was scared and hid behind the toilet bowl for over 12 hours and behind the fridge etc... Anyway after a while I had a strange tapping sound I couldn't locate and it drove me nuts..(especially being a sound engineer, you have to know) In despair I asked for help online in the middle of the night and someone suggested I clap my hands and at the same time express whatever/whoever to cease from their behaviour... and it worked. Don't ask me how, but it did. Wishing you well

I didn't think I was suggesting anything outlandish other than getting a recording of it.

No need to troll buddy.

I'm kind of just on the fence, personally. Never witnessed anything supernatural myself, so my first instinct is to say BS. But then again, existence and the world as a whole is a total mystery & enigma to me... So WTF would I know, either way?

If you have never experienced it,
then you wouldn't know much either way....like you say.

Some day, you might prove it to yourself, you never know.

I edited my post to explain that the cat was apparently carrying a ghost... but I can't see my edited text in my post..

Cats are very sensitive, that much I know... but communicating out loud should do the trick OP, even if it is your relative..

Throwing around the word 'troll' like that is actually kind of trolling, buddy!

Anyway, I was just suggesting an auditory distortion... From lack of sleep, or whatever you want... really.

When you insinuate someone is smoking something, that is trolling, at least in my eyes it is.
But hey, it's all good.

Maybe I just took it the wrong way

You can use a very simple App called Dream Talk Recorder, it records only when the noise level hits a certain threshold ... when it's quiet in the room, it would stay idle/inactive, just running in the background waiting for the Sound to turn it on.

This app is usually used for Dream-talk recordings, but can be very useful in many cases, even yours.
The App is very easy to use by the way...

I would definitely go and give it a try.

The house was built 3 generations prior by family. Only family have ever lived in this house. We live in the forest, we have no neighbors, not directly anyways. We here crickets, birds, squirrels in the trees and deer foraging in the yard. So if we are not playing the music surely it's not the woodland creatures.

I have had various "experiences" , I have just never shared an "experience" with someone else, and one that is so Holloweenish. To speak about it feels cheesy, reflecting on the experience just seems down right weird. The concept isn't lost on me though.

I'm not beyond entertaining the idea of recording the phenomenon. Here's the thing, although I can hear it and the music seems to come from a location (nursery) , it feels like it's hitting my ears not in a typical acoustic way, almost as if it's in my head.

Meaning, when the nursery door was open the audible level didn't change. Should have gotten louder right? Maybe it will record, I don't know.

I have no earthly desire to invoke demons, Angels or even ghosts. Not do I have any desire to go out and by a Parker Bros. game. Your warning is duelly noted though.

No, no, if it was/is a ghostly apparition of sorts, it would likely be my wife's grandmother although she thinks it's her grandfather because it used to be his room. That said, the energy is more nurturing then anything else. As such, best not to disturb it.

Well, I would see if you can get a recording of it then.
Sometimes when you get to repeat a noise like that, it will become clearer on what it might be.
If you and your wife both could hear it at one point then it should be recordable.

EVPs can easily be recorded, so I would think the music could too.

Actually the EVPs get recorded without a person hearing them a lot of the time.
Give it a try for about a week and see what happens.

Check if there's a source of a white noise and read through this thread:
Hearing music and voices in white noise

Also, if you are looking for a paranormal explanation I would consider your kid is repeating it in a mind. Your minds are connected by the shared enviroment. How? He or she hears these BS melodies too often, every repeating # can be dangerous or powerful as mantras and such stuff. Just throw it off and play your child something natural like not looping nature sounds from youtube.
Speaking toys are IMO dangerous for the young mind. Children need a real company. What are we talking about? Throw it off and shhhhh!

I'd get a priest, hard to tell if something is a ghost (spooky house) or a demon (killer house) better safe then sorry on this one. Personal experience.

I remember reading a story about someone who had your same experience. Turns out a filling in a tooth was picking up a radio broadcast frequency!

It may have been an article out of Readers Digest from the early 70's.

Funny how the memory stuck with me all these years.

Did you take batteries out of toy/s in room like someone suggested earlier in thread? If you did make such changes maybe that's why you no longer hear the music?
