Separation of Church and State has to do with not letting religious memes influence the government and its policies. It says nothing about not wanting religious people to be patriotic.

Separation of church and state in the Constitution only means the Federal Government cant establish a church of it's own. Sooooo many people get this wrong......

I understand this, but not letting religious memes affect its policies comes with that. Doesn't matter if its existing religions or one the federal government creates, religious memes not affecting policy is part of the amendment.

It is perfectly acceptable to love things in this world, one should abstain from loving things of the world. I would argue that the US is an idea groomed out of theology... Be it God's will. Pride, lust, and vanity are of the world, but honor and virtue are not. To me, patriotism come from honor and virtue.

What exactly is the difference between "in" and "of" the world? If it is in the world, it is of it.

Also, you cannot separate American patriotism with the country. A country has to do with geographical location, it has to do with the world. If you are patriotic for America then you are referring to the land mass. America does not mean freedom and freedom does not mean America.

A country is society based on common rule. Yes, it is geographically defined, but location has nothing to do with its values. We are all in the world, yet we are of God.

Christianity, like every other religion, is eclectic. Everyone picks out what they want to believe and they ignore the rest. This is why many of the same religion can't/don't/won't get along. So it's no surprise that you have the "god, guns, and guts" Christian, as well as those to the other extreme, and everyone else falls somewhere in the middle.

You said it's ok to love things in the world, the bible says it's not ok.

Either way though, the common rule of society is of the world. It is not a physical thing, but it is from the physical world. If you did not think of it, you got it second hand meaning it is of the world.

Clearly, you are not ass enlightened as you claim to be. Romans 12 states it clear enough

Romans 12
2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Being patriotic is conforming to a pattern of this world. Patriotism means pride for ones country, a person's country is of this world.

Sorry to burst your bubble but patriotism is a no no according to the bible.

Bubble not bursted. You speak of nationalism. Patriotism is not pride, it is duty.

Now you're just splitting hairs. Patriotism comes with a sense of pride for ones country, the same goes for nationalism. Patriotism is love for ones country, that's the definition, you can't just go changing definitions to fit your presuppositions.

Satan took the Lord to a high place, and said "all of this can be yours." Must have been one hell of a vantage spot.

The Earth is flat don't you know? It has four corners.

Revelation 7
1 After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth to prevent any wind from blowing on the land or on the sea or on any tree.

Yawn. Nothing substantive can com from this discussion... It is about achieving your agenda. Anyhow, I am a Christian and I am patriotic. I love my wife and my children. I am not a good Christian, because I don't love you, but I am empathetic for you.

Well I love you my friend.

If you don't love me you are ignoring Jesus' words. Yes, you are a VERY bad Christian and I would argue not a true Christian at all, that is if a true Christian is someone who follows Jesus' word. You do not follow his word obviously.

I have no agenda, apparently you do though.

People who are willing to die for their country are what we call patriots, in that sense Christian soldiers were making themselves an enemy of God when they decided to die for their country.

Not trying to ruffle any feathers here, just calling it how I see it.

Look, my job is not to Die For My Country. My job is to make the other SOB Die for his!

LOL

I take it you never served or you would have expected that response to that statement.

"The heart of the wise inclines to the right, but the heart of the fool to the left." Ecclesiastes 10: 2 Everybody uses the Bible for their on purpose, especially the non Christians. My history professor said that separation of church and state was to keep the government out of church not the other way around.

I will agree with you, but glad that is it not the other way around. I incline to the left a long way, but far from a fool.
