It's just the Pope being all pope'y and stuff...

The more I hear from the person, the more I realize just how different his is from his predecessors. Though, I don't quite understand if his interviews are just taken as a decree or if they're just saying, "Hey, the pope said this..". I wonder if it would be better if he stood up and demanded that things be done and issues resolved like the potUS seems to do here in the US. Anyways, let's get to the meat of this message..

www.cruxnow.com...

“Some religious orders say ‘No, now that the convent is empty we are going to make a hotel and we can have guests, and support ourselves that way, or make money,’” the pontiff said.

“Well, if that is what you want to do, then pay taxes! A religious school is tax-exempt because it is religious, but if it is functioning as a hotel, then it should pay taxes just like its neighbor. Otherwise it is not fair business.”

He does have a really good point. It's time for the churches, of all denominations, to start living up to the message they're based upon. For this very reason, I do not attend any kind of church. It's a vile feeling when I've walked into a church, and I've attended many in my life, where the church is rich and the people who attend it are poor. I think the message was to feed and clothe the poor. Not rape them of their money to build the biggest and most dazzling church possible.

(Hint)

His words do seem to point directly to the state of the world and how we are waking up and to sand against it. Finally someone who not only knows how we feel but is willing to put himself out there and damn the consequences of his position in his high office. I like the idea of someone in some kind of power role actually voicing what many of us feel.

The big difference between this guy and some guy who lies to be the POTUS is... This guy doesn't have money. He doesn't have luxury. He lives in a little room. Sure he has a house for life and food for life, but he's not into material things. Sure, Vatican city is pretty elaborate but so is DC or Parliament or whatever center of government around the world. We usually accept the nice big capitol of the country and all of it's elaborate buildings, so long as the people are heard and taken care of.

His comments came in an interview with veteran Catholic journalist Aura Miguel of Portugal’s Radio Renascença.

In the interview, Francis once again blasted what he called “a bad and unjust socioeconomic system” in the early 21st century that he faults for Europe’s current refugee crisis.

The International Organization for Migration estimates that more than 350,000 migrants arrived at the European Union’s borders between January and August this year. Some believe those estimates are low: According to Eurostat, 662,000 people applied for asylum in the EU in 2014.

I really think this guy is genuinely concerned for the people and the less fortunate. I kind of believe that once a person has nothing to loose, then they can speak truth without worrying about anything. He already knows that he's a target and could loose his life any time. So why not tell it like it is and make a lot of sense doing it.

[snip quote]

When you're willing to take money out of your own pocket in who knows how much abundance there of, to fix problems in the world, you have my attention.

So here's one for the Pope being all pope'y and stuff...

This shows how far you are from reality when you think that anything you achieved in life is cause your own making, you live in society as a human or you take the fall as a primate.

I honestly don't know what to think about this situation. I find the events highly concerning. I am not against taking in real refugees. I met a wonderful lady whom had to escape from El Salvador and I am very greatful that Canada took her and her children, she had horrible things happen to her in her own country, and she has added much value to Canada. I do worry though that terrorist groups had openly stated that they were going to be sending terrorists out to many different Countries, and the violence I have already seen is quite unnerving. I also would like to know how many refugees they will be welcoming to Vatican city? How many have they already taken in. I honestly don't know what the heck is going on.

If he wants them so much, lets send them all in Vatican!
Church has more than enough money to take care all of them,

We can't work to pay both the church and refuges. We are paying for too many ''parasites'' already.
European citizens and culture are the true victims here!
I didn't cause this, I am not the one responsible, Eu has already got too much problems,
I won't welcome their invasion!

In reality they are not even going to ask us,
They've already decided for us, and among with the Pope their are spreading their awful sickening propaganda,
so that we accept it and move on....

Hungary shows the way Eu... resist or fall for it once again

a truly Marxist world is envisioned by the Holy See speaking of mundane world/practical things... give all the (for whatever the reason) Refugees 3 hots & a cot, don't offend the Muslims among them with Bible teachings or spiritual guidance what-so-ever

the USA missionaries still comb the streets to get bodies to hear 'the-Word' for the cost of a meal or a pack of cigarettes
this tactic also generates street people to cast their votes to the really ambitious campaign managers

this person occupies the Popes' domicile & wears that special hat --- pretty much like that community organizer fellow occupies the Oval Office in our political sphere in the gov't....neither are qualified for the ROLE but both are either Socialists or Marxists, of which both are anti-religion ideologies

I absolutely agree with the sharing is caring, and I have no problem with that. I would not want to have tea with a psychotic murderer though, I have had enough dealings with people who have evil in their heart. I learn that you do not invite these people over. I have a cousin who can almost hypnotize people, but I also know he is a.chronic habitual liar, a thief, and causes harm to even the people who are closest to him. He manipulated his own son to charge his wife with assault when she tried to leave their marriage. Which wasn't true. He planted drugs in her vehicle and called the cops on her, luckily she found them and had already called the police to report it. He would tell her that the only way out would be through a wood chipper. She ended up leaving the province to escape. When my hubby helped her get her stuff in the moving van, my cousin showed up and found out, we then received collection letters in the mail in his name at our address for the next two years. People who he borrowed money from around town would call us up all the time because he gave them our phone #.
If there are the hallmarks of nucken futs you do not let them hang around cause it's asking for trouble.

I agree with you, and I can't believe that -

- so many of the replies so far have no idea what you're OP is actually saying!

People - the Pope is not talking about regular citizens here...

...He is saying that 'church' owned properties should be taking in refugees, that convents or monasteries that don't have any nuns or monks should be using those empty rooms to house refugees -

- and he is saying that if those church owned properties are used for money making enterprises (such as an empty convent becoming a "hotel") they should have to pay property taxes
(instead of remaining exempt from taxes like 'non-profit' church properties).

I am working my a$$ off, but now I think of getting my skin painted brown and pretend to be a refuge so I can live on welfare from now on, they''ll give me a free home, free medical care, insurance, I'll be given a free pass at universities and I can go in any country I want without any papers at all. sounds like a good deal!

Cultures are based on what you want it to be, your parents culture isnt the same as yours. The excuse is when you teach moral and ethics outside of society boundaries.

So why can two people within the same society arrive at vastly different results? Id bet everything I have youre poor, for you know nothing of what it takes to become a success.

To the OP, send them to the vatican and kill two birds with one stone.

No, doesnt work that way, you are employed. Anyone can be employed, doesnt mean you are productive, which is unlikely since most of production is placed in the East. When you think you need to work to survive you are taught golden age ideals, they dont apply. When you think its you, its not, your state keeps you alive, NO ONE ELSE, so if your state says, we need to take them in, you help.

Difference between being a Monkey and a Human. While i think you cant see the difference, those who Are PAygrades above your head makes that difference, thats why you will never become anything more than an idealist in a time where you will never win.

A lot of people need a fancy, flashy church with huge jumbo screens and state of the art sound systems. I sometimes wonder if people attend these churches more for the social interaction and entertainment than any actual moral/spiritual lessons.

I've attended some churches where it was all about singing modern rock-gospel with special effect lighting. It seemed more like a free weekly rock concert than any kind of religious teaching.

I also remember a youth group when I was younger running an arcade to draw kids in. I can't remember what it was called but a bunch of parents were upset over it because it was kind of culty-ish.

IDK, if you need all that flashy expensive stuff to convert people to your line of spiritual thinking, you might want to re-think what you believe in.

While I enjoy your baseless assumptions about me, and your subjective philosophic thinking,
What do you think of productivity in society?
You said ''most of production is placed in the East'', are you talking about the needless plastic sh!t that nobody really needs, that come from slave factories in China?
If that's the case you don't even know what productivity is
Being a doctor who helps others isn't productive in your opinion?
How about being an author?
