It's all due to the copyrights to the film and the need to maintain those rights. After so many years, if they do not re-make them, they lose the
rights to the property and hence, the money.
That's the primary reason you see so many re-makes. They have to maintain the rights to the film, the merchandise and yadayadayadamoney. That's why
they don't really care how much of a blockbuster the re-make is.
Another facet is that it's a better bet to go with something that has been popular in the past than take a chance on a new film.
They'll never stop doing this because they never want to give up the rights. Get used to it and just plain don't watch the crap they keep spewing out.
