Over 60 dead after crane collapses on world’s holiest mosque in Mecca

At least 65 people have died after a crane collapsed on the Grand Mosque of Mecca on Friday, Saudi authorities say.
According to Saudi Interior Ministry, at least 154 more people were injured in the incident.

From the photos there are several cranes. Does anyone know the purpose of them?

On The Drudge Report (which is where I saw this link), there is a photo that shows lightening striking the area. It's possible the crane was struck by lightening.

Plus considering most of the 9/11 perpetrators came from Saudi Arabia. Its quite wierd.
