Is Google censoring my searches?

So I was researching the new Obama EO regarding paid sick leave and after googling a bunch of sites a weird thing happened.

This popped up.



I've used google for all kinds of things and never had this happen.

Am I being censored because of the topic of my search?

I happen to me once. If you use proxy or an institution network google might think your trying to overload (attack) them because you got alot of connection with them. They want to be sure that all the connection is made by human. Don't worrie, they don't try to censor you.

If you were doing a lot of searches in short order you may see this pop up. It's just an "are you human" check, to make sure you are not some web bot slamming the system and using up resources. No censoring.

it's just a system to make sure you are human and not some kind of bot.
i'm sure google is asked to "censor" certain researches, but that company is so big you won't even see it happen.
think of the pornography or torrent filter, you are not told that those results are filtered out from standard searches.

Google most definitely filters and censors your searches.
Use duckduckgo or similar.

This should not happen when repeatedly googling a subject.

This is true, but not malevolent. They use your data to give you the best results they can about what you want. I often use duckduckgo for getting out of this bubble since I search on a wide range of subject.

For exemple, your in a city with an university and you type INF100 you will get this university informatic class. This is because Google suppose that the most usefull website for you is this one.

Thanks for the responses. I have done extensive searches on all kinds of things like photography, excercise, marketing etc and never had this happen. I do a search on Paid Sick Leave and Obama's new EO and California's existing paid sick leave laws and this pops up! I'm gonna start using the duckduck search.

Its not gonna matter what you use. Most all search sites will flip up and "prove your not a machine by entering this CAPCHA" once in awhile becasue of heavy and repeated searching.

Its not censoring...it proving you arent a machine. Youll still get your requested results.
