What About Me?

I spend my days doing what I can, helping out the others, when the crap hits their fan;

All my energy depleted for them, leaving me a shell of myself, a skirt with no hem;

Tears of pain and guilt and despair, wracked with shame, how is this fair;

I am the strong, they are the weak, but what about me, who do I turn to when I am meek;

The search for me leads elsewhere, humans are not capable, my spirit being relieves the fear;

Without my soul to guide me, I am lost, trapped in my condition drowning at sea;

So, what about me, I am free to be, the roots of my tree, with the fruits that I bear, free to choose which way to go, I can wither in despair, the answer is not here, trapped by the wear, my journey does not end, the destination is there.

What about me, I am the captain of my ship, drifting from port to shore, leaving my wake behind me and crying no more.

Don't stop crying, its a relief valve and shows your humanity.

How can we not cry anymore?

Well, maybe not today, anyway…

That last line was especially beautiful.
Don't forget that service to others IS service to the self, often moreeso than any personal act, if one may recognize the positive impact it has.
Just don't overdo it; make room for yourself too.
Balance is key.
