As many will affirm, and twice more will shout against, survival is about... Food!
Such a great deal we do and praise our food. Indeed! There is reason to it,
my friend,
my comrade,
my survivalist!

Food is the scarce if you get into survival situation. It is! Yeas you need shelter, water etc, firstly, but that is manageable.(and here I speak of my real survival experience) ...but food, you might stuck upon a rock here. And that's not good. Rocks not edible. That' my friend - Cargo Black told me. Very wise man.

So if you prepare yourself good for survival, prepare yourself good with food! I say! And not any kind of food but that one which will stay on 100% with you! This means, not only nutrition, but accessibility, way of accumulation, time efficiency, TASTE - for Jesus Hellraiser Christ Sake! ...and many more! Now do your work, yourself, and yourself only, but please take a look and share a comment of my new conquest in the search of the optimal survival meal!

That food looks utterly revolting lol give me a maccy d burger anyday. They don't decompose supposedly.

It depends how many of those ingredients you have readily before a shtf situation, and the nature of shtf.

To me, it's about sustainability. If you can produce it with adequate supply and demand, and have a balanced diet, you can survive healthily, to a degree.

The French have a saying 'you eat with your eye's' those bowls really do not look nice to me, perhaps if the contents were in a pie the dish might look better, I will stick to buying tin, with food inside it. Looking at buying dried food too, cereals probably.

Cereals is a choice, yet I try go without the grains. So buts plus olive oil is something of a substitute. Basic recipe would be: Nuts, Aioli, Mustard, Seeds, Honey, Herbs.

If you go to the basics all ingredients may be sustained at the shtf momentum. If we skip the exotic we can go on something like: Hazelnuts(local wild growing), Olive oil(stash), Green herbs(garden, foraging), Honey(bartering the local bears), and if you are rich and famous pick poppy seeds, mustard seeds and green cardamom. For extra protein forage Grubs, hand-fish, bird-trap, etc.

P.S. I picked Hazelnuts for survival staple as they are the most camouflaged species, time efficient and storable. You just need proper climate to plant them(and the time to).
