A ‘mother’ robot that can design, build and test its own ‘children’, and then use the results to improve the performance of the next generation, without relying on computer simulation or human intervention.

They want robots that are capable of innovation and creativity.

So, Skynet, Matrix, or Futurama folks?

All forms of art and technology either mimic or augment life.

It start with Futurama end with Skynet, and when the robots wants the answer to what a soul is Matrix comes along

I think we are already in a matrix...I just don't want to end up in a subnet.

Well the religion part would be pretty easy as they know, who their creator is. The question is if they will honor their creators, or not so much
? It would be amusing if AI created a type of anti-religion

They won't create a religion.

Not unless someone inserts that into them.

So we're cutting ourselves out of the design process already?

So what job are you going to do now?

Bio cyber engineered plants are next, I know that augmented reality is on its way but before we have plugged in flesh its going to start with trees being born with both biological and cyber/tech capable attributes. That's next before we make the trade in your body scenario

I read a few years back that at sone point technology will begin creating itaelf.

I didn't realize it was already happening.

Well, share this article. Spread the word.

In Mass Effect, the Quarians made the Geth (sentient AI machines) who revolted and later founded religious beliefs. Instead of worshiping their old creators (who enslaved them), some began to worship another, more ancient synthetic/organic alien life form.

The story line behind the Geth is actually pretty great.

This is only the beginning, it looks harmless at the moment, just look at how far technology has come in our life time, computing power doubling roughly every 2 years, nothing has evolved that fast in the history of our planet.

How far will these robots go in the next 10 years.
