On July 13, 2015, in Topeka, Kansas, police officer Michael Cruse entered the backyard of the house of retired Shawnee County District Judge James
Macnish, and killed their dog Josie. Michael Cruse was responding to a burglary alarm, but as soon as he scored his kill for the day, he could care
less if any burglary was indeed in progress or not. The cop essentially served no function there, other than causing the family grief. But since the
house belonged to a former judge, he played apologetic before his wife.
