Why destroy records?

What if they got the date wrong but not the other things... then the info could come in handy.

But in general. Why delete information.. who made you judge and executioner?

It's always there if you need a good chuckle! Not to mention a reminder for all of us that mass hysteria can occur even in this day and age.

It should be changed to Mayan Calendar rather than 2012, cause the Mayan calendar doesnt reset until 9/16/2016, once you intercalate it properly.

Maybe it could be changed to a Doom Porn or End of the World sub forum?

There always seems to be some kind of big event on the horizon from one direction or other: Y2K, Dec. 21,2012, now this September.

It's a good record for how we can get carried away with certain things, there's plenty to be learnt from such things as this, and I am sure some will already have a new date they are focusing in on.

I say keep it.

You're asking for ATS to delete a vast amount of thread discussions that have happened in the past on this subject, which would be the same as erasing ATS history.

Not going to happen.

Even if all the doom sayers were wrong, and Dec. 21, 2012 was not the end of the world, there are many past threads here in this forum that are chock full of information, research and examples of all sorts of things. 2012 was a phenomenal if simply because of the fame in itself.

The forum might fall to disuse or the ATS owners might even lock it down to where it's "Read Only", but do not expect it to be trashed. Way too many threads in there, and it's part of the Above Top Secret history.

I'm not asking...i'm stating that it's the epitome of fail.
''Even if all the doom sayers were wrong, and Dec. 21, 2012 was not the end of the world,''
Check and check.
Of course it has a lot of stuff in it, all wrong of course except for the obvious geographic and historically accurate info...all the ''revelations'' and ''secrets'' and ''theories''...all wrong.

Maybe it should be renamed from ''2012'' to something like ''2012 fiasco'' or ''2012 debacle'' or ''2012 Self-defeating prophecy''.

"All wrong"?

So all those members who spent a lot of time debunking, researching material to show that the doom sayers were barking up the wrong tree were.....wrong?

The threads created by members who did painstaking research into the Mayans to show exactly what the long count calendar was (which was not a dooms day clock), what their culture was that is located in that forum are....wrong?

The many threads talking about things like PlanetX or Nibiru, with the countless posts done by people who's knowledge about astronomy and astrophysics was very strong to show that there was no such planet approaching us were...wrong?

Still plenty of Doom Porn threads out there, many still touching upon material that is located within this forum. It's an excellent source to show and to use still.

If the 2012 forum bothers you that much, here is a simple solution: Don't click on it. No one is forcing you to click on it. No one is forcing you to read any threads in it at all.

actually the world ended in 2012. you lot just haven't noticed. the forum is valid!

All the nibiru/ planet x is a fail.
As for people debunking..ok, but they wouldn't have had to do all that work if a lot of crazy people would have just kept their mouths shut...nothing happened in 2012. ALL the prophets failed, all the doomsday people failed.
As for mayans calendar is again just not realistic. A stone carving that someone didn't finish. Big deal.

Face it..a whole myriad of topic based on one lie. Are we alive in 2015 ? Is there going to be a 2013 and 2014 and 2015 and 2016 forum now ?

At the very least the name should be in strikethrough text...or changed to ''2012 self defeating prophecies''.

I have suggested in the past that it should be renamed "Dated Predictions", and used for future issues of the same type.
The label would have a double meaning;
Before the deadline, "Dated" in the sense that a date was attached to them.
After the deadline, "Dated" in the sense of being obsolete.

No, but it could be made a catch all for failed predictions.

If I remember right, wasn't Ragnarok supposed to happen last winter?
