Yea I was really just pointing out your inability to deal with people on an individual basis.

Then again, life is way easier when you treat an entire group of "whatever" as one entity.

I think it's best to wait and see what facts are presented before we come to any conclusion. It's very possible that the person in question had the right to protect himself from the officer, if the officer was out of line.

The Supreme Court has upheld that right before.

If an African American is going overboard, which they commonly do in our country, people aren't allowed to intervene. ...

Is it messed up?? Yes, yes it is. But in my opinion, it's more messed up that African Americans lost this trust due to their actions. I know not every African American is bad, but there's enough bad ones to make many in our country not trust them, as well as fear them. This is what happens because of that.

See how that works?

Love the technique of taking people's actual
words and replacing the target of the rant
with a member of a politically correct
protected group in the US

Superb example of how what people say about police
would be considered heinous if said about
anyone else.

We forget police are people.

Quit blaming the police, and even the criminals.
As long as people are demanding gentle treatment for
criminals because of the media, leaders and politicians
you will get gentle treatment,
and more crime
and worse race relations
and more cops in self protect mode.

Mostly we forget that it is the politicians
and media, and leaders,
who make money off of making race
relations worse
that are really the people to blame.

The media makes money through
having something sensational on TV,
and so go around reporting in a way
that increases the violence so they
can get better footage and make
more money.

Then "leaders" come in to make
things better, and solicit donations
for their organizations that
"make things better" but if race
relations actually improved, they
would be out of a job, and so they
pretend to try and make things better
while making things much worse to make
money off the situation.

Also, politicians make news, which is to
their political advantage to make things
worse in race relations because they
get more air time and more donations
if they are better known because of their
air time. So it is to their advantage to
subtly make race relations worse, while
claiming to decry the bad race relations.

Look to the money folks,
if things used to be improving,
and suddenly are worse,
follow the money trail,
someone - actually several someone's
are profiting off the trouble they
are causing and making worse

We are going to see worse and worse race relations now that the media, leaders, and politicians
have seen how stirring things up is quite profitable.

IF YOU ARE ANGRY AT THE POLICE,
IF YOU ARE ANGRY AT THE CRIMINALS,
YOUR ANGER IS MISPLACED;

BE ANGRY AT THE MEDIA, THE LEADERS
AND POLITICIANS WHO ARE PROFITING
OFF THE ANGER THAT THEY ARE
PURPOSELY TRYING TO CREATE IN YOU.

YOU ARE BEING MANIPULATED AND USED.

Also very true. If one guy got out and started fighting then the other one got out, the cop is in more trouble than he already was.

Or...and this is pure speculation....somebody watching joined in?

I had that thought too.

Are you suggesting some kinda weird cop bigotry? I told you the man should not of been beaten I also point out the story is a bait scheme meant to make you feel bad for the average cops "just doing his job". That's inaccurate and a skew of reality and facts, the facts I listed. I am sympathetic towards the man he should not of been beaten however this story doesn't broaden my sympathy for the average cops plight. Infact I believe you are guilty of what you are excusing me of.

Are you surprised that this is occurring? I'm not when the proverbial black boot of injustice rests firmly on the common mans head incidents like this become precedence and eventually society says # you. The inability to treat a person as a individual is perquisite for policing civilians in this day and age.

Introvert is correct we need more information but I don't think Pistol Whipping someone is appropriate behaviour whatever the case may be and if you do then you are one sick puppy.

I am starting to get the feeling this was just to "Show Off"

The people taking pictures however it can be assumed they took many photos and video and some where there right at the beginning or even parhaps arriving with the assaulter.

"This is my neighborhood" kind of thing.

Yes I am white. I grew up here, I've lived and traveled the world many times. But most people when they think of Alabama have a picture in their head that whites and blacks are against each others throats since the civil war. Birmingham is the largest city in Alabama, has been for a long time. Birmingham is usually about 75% african american, it has had an african american mayor my entire life. Almost all politicians in the city are african american. Most of the police officers are african american. Most people in this city get along with one another, we have for a very long time. Race relations here are better than most big cities in the north and midwest.

The cops were mad that people took the pics and posted them, read the link. People were upset about the comments posted on the pics. I personally don't have a problem with people taking pics or posting them. There needs to be more accountability with police departments, and that is not a bad thing.

I strongly disagree with you.

Please read my posts on pages 2 and 3 and you will see why.

Since when are police expected to not be human beings?
Since when is it ok to stop seeing them as human beings?

Why isn't your anger directed at those who are
manipulating your feelings for profit?

Is it really rational to expect that all police will be perfect all the time,
and if they don't then we should blame all the police for the actions
of a few?

Why can't you see that the media is manipulating your emotions
with their profit making coverage, and the worse the
events they cover, the more money they make. So it
profits them to manipulate people into worse behavior
and to manipulate people into watching more and more
of the media coverage of the bad behavior.

Why can't you see that the leadership
to "end racism" saw that while things were
improving, they were losing money.
They only made money when race relations
were/are bad. So it profited the leadership
to "end racism" to actually make it worse
while appearing to try and end it.
It profited them to make you angry to make
you expect the impossible from the people
who are the police, so that more anger
is generated and they make more money.

Why can't you see that politicians who
stir things up by jumping in and condemning
police, get more air time, thus get more donations,
thus find it to their advantage to stir up race
relations and make matters worse, while
claiming to be indignant and trying to improve
things. To manipulate you into unreasonable
thinking is to their advantage.

YOU ARE BEING MANIPULATED AND USED,

JUST LIKE THE POLICE AND THE CRIMINALS,

BY PEOPLE AND ORGANIZATIONS WHO WILL

MAKE MORE AND MORE MONEY OFF THE ANGER

THEY ARE PURPOSELY TRYING TO CREATE IN YOU.

I'm not suggesting anything.

"I see cops as assholes." Your words, not mine.

"A woman broke my heart and I'll never make that mistake again." Your words, paraphrased, but still your words.

Like I said, when you put everybody into neat little groups it makes things easier mentally than dealing with people on a case by case basis.

You are both right and both wrong. Tech is pointing out that the Prison Industrial Complex has been putting people in jail for profit for so long that he doesn't feel any sympathy for cops anymore because of all the lives they've ruined for pretty much nothing just to hit arrest quotas. Sadly that's a reality.

However, I like to believe that if this guy hadn't drawn his own gun then he was one of the good guys. They are out there.

I don't see story as a bleeding heart sob story at all. It's just an incident being reported locally. When I see it on my BBC news channel then I may be more inclined to agree with tech.

Was going to post this. We have no idea what happened before the guy got a hold of the undercover cop's gun. It could all have been a misunderstanding. After seeing the video of the Medford, MA off duty cop... from the drivers perspective some crazy ass dude jumped out of his truck in the middle of the road starts coming at him yelling that he's gonna blow his head off, so he hauls ass in reverse THEN the cop pulls out his badge... the cop is irate, the driver is panicked and trying to explain, it's not too hard to understand that a lot could happened and the assailant could have thought his life was in danger.

After carefully considering whether I should post my thoughts, I decided to share even though I'm aware it sounds mean.

This type of violent crime isn't new. Pictures of crime isn't new either. And, I'm sorry no this may be connected to many things however this crime had something most crimes communities are upset over don't.

This police officer walked away. He's alive and can live his life. He wasn't shot, he's not decease. So as far as I can see his family needs to suck it up and be grateful this man only got postal whipped and not shot and killed.
