Why are Republicans Obsessed with Self Preservation.

A simple question here not in the attempts to troll or cause any flaming, but a legitimate wonder. I can never get my family who is glued to Fox news to ever give me a solid answer to this so lets try it out shall we? Republicans are greatly concerned with keeping their wealth, keeping their stuff, keeping everybody else out (ie. Immigrants wanting to come into the country) Yet the the Right claims to be the Christian side as opposed to the Left. "God's own party."

Whoever oppresses the poor to increase his own wealth, or gives to the rich, will only come to poverty. - Proverbs 22:16 ESV

I could keep going with these verses all day long, but all I am finding is that the Bible, in which the Right thinks they own, speaks against the very policies and ideologies that the Bible teaches. I am not saying the Left is Jesus' choice if He were forced to vote red or blue, but I am saying He wouldn't vote red. Even with the scriptural rebuttals to the Left's ideologies, the Right's ideology is very much contradictory from a scriptural standpoint.

Let's hear some well thought out replies, not looking for a flame war but legitimate answers.

There's a big difference between "self preservation" and greed.

I work to provide to and for my family. I pay taxes to and for my government which is money I'd rather not see spent on liberal causes that quite blatantly, either attempt to take even more of my earnings to be literally given to people who do not work or worse, breaking the law by allowing ILLEGAL immigrants to roam freely being aided by... you guessed it... my money.

...that's not greed, it's just not altruistic.

Self preservation, is the moral and constitutional construct of values that this country used to be known, respected and celebrated for and are the same values countless American lives have died fighting for and defending for nearly 250 years. So it's not so much self preservation as much as it is a national preservation... and yes, I'm greatly concerned with that.

See it sounds simple and noble when you say it like that, but are you really just 'barely' providing for your family? Or do you have excess income that could help other families who aren't making it. And in what way are the Liberal causes bad? Why can't they be funded on things you disagree with?

How do folks protect an endangered species? They take steps at presevation. Those on the far right are a dying breed. They aren't stupid, they KNOW it's getting bad and bound to get worse. Therefore, what more is there to do than take steps to "preserve" their ways/beliefs? Same goes for the far left.

Extremists are a constantly thinning (or so I like to think) people. Be it left, right, whatever. I think collectively we are moving towards a more "happy medium" so to speak.

Once the ignorance dies off with older generations, there won't be anything left to preserve. However you can bet you bottom dollar that the last living 115 year old right winger will yell "it's my money don't give it those money sucking welfarers!!" to their grave.

Because they are politicians and have lots less power if they are un-elected and become less relevant. Make no mistake that it is only Republicans, this condition is one which infects all breeds of politicians which is why we see them all running around raising billions of dollars in order to get reelected.

Is it the responsibility of others others to take care of those who had 9 kids knowing they could not afford to raise them? What happened to personal responsibility? Their moral compass is askew.

You seem to think those who can afford to help a family of 9 MUST help them. Most would, in whatever way possible, but why MUST they in your mind?

If a guy shoots up and goes out on a rampage,, must we hire his defense attorney because we can afford to help?

Why should others be forced to pay for my birth control? My child? My trangender operation?

Before attacking me, I am only questioning you as you have republicans.

Not all Republicans are Bible thumpers; many just help because they can and not out of fear of the Lord.

After last year's election results, I would say both parties are in Self Preservation mode.

But Democrats more so.

Extremely more so.

And especially with more than 900 Democrat political positions lost since Obama took "office".

Republicans are in Self Preservation mode because of the continuing attacks against them.

Why would you assume that all republicans are bible thumpers? I find that odd.

but on the wealth question.
Maybe they just don't like the way the left wants to take and spend their money.
They are greedy because they think windmills and solar panels are a pipe dream?
They are terrible because they don't want to fund what they feel is murder?
For some reason we are bad people for not wanting foreign people coming in to the country and using its resources, yet we are not given that same respect in their country.
They understand that we can only give so many handouts before we are the ones needing a handout. They also know that nobody will be there to repay the favor.

I bet there's more wealthy Democrats than Republicans.

And ironically, there might be more poor Democrats than Republicans.

And I bet there's more religious Democrats than Republicans.

So, maybe you're assumptions are backwards.

Fox is just an anomaly because the Left controlled Big3 Networks have 5 times as many viewers and regular followers.

As a "right winger", I have some questions.

Why are you concerned with my faith? I don't preach about my faith, nor do I want or expect you to belive how I do.

Why are you concerned with my wealth? I bust my ass to provide for my family. I'm concerned about my family, not yours. You are free to do whatever floats your boat just the same as me. Difference is, you won't hear me telling you how to live.

Why are you concerned about my stuff? I like stuff and buy what I want, just like you can. Difference is, you will never hear me say you have too much, as it's none of my business.

I'm all for personal responsibility. Do whatever you want, just leave me alone.

I'm trying to preserve what I have worked and sacrificed for. I have no problem helping others, but far too many progressive liberals want to force people like me to pay for their cause du jour. I am trying to provide for my own family and put myself in a position so I can take care of myself as I age and not be dependent on the government.

Taking money by force from those who have earned it and giving it to those who have not is just as bad as greed.

Your OP reads as if there is a 'Right' Party and a 'Left' Party.
My mom registered as a Republican many years ago because she knew my dad was a Republican and he registered Democrat to impress his father-in-law, at least that is what they told me.
There are gay Republicans.
There are Democrats that oppose abortion.
I know Democrats that are Christian pastors.
I even know of a group of Catholic nuns that voted for Obama, TWICE!

The world is not monochromatic... we are in 'technicolor'!

Welfare helps the truly needy people, but excessive welfare hurts everyone. If people are hungry they will work, work in itself is good. Work helps you to learn independence, learn job skills, learn responsibility. Excessive welfare takes away any/all reason for the lazy/non-motivated to help themselves.
