Yeah I think Korg is full of crap to be honest.
Yes of course high levels of immigration has put stresses and strains on the infrastructure of the UK and certainly wages have been driven down... but the picture he paints is some nightmarish, doomsday nonsense that is simply scaremongering bollocks.

Immigrants have contributed £25bn to our economy and have worked MORE and received LESS in benefits than the average Briton

It's also the Government that is not building enough new housing and social housing and not updating the infrastructure.
We've needed housing and services sorted out LONG before this "flood" of immigrants came in the last decade and a half... but successive governments have failed to do anything.
They'd rather allow the the rich and powerful at the top to take all of the money and dodge and avoid tax and pay NOTHING into the society in which they supposedly exist.

It's easy to blame the immigrants... times are hard and people like to blame those that are different and "not from here"
But it's complete BS. The only one's at fault are successive governments for either not having a handle on the numbers coming and going, and not having more in place to ensure that the people we need for the jobs we have, are coming in.

But yeah... Korg and others will tell you it's the fault of those "Bloody Foreigners"

Give the Navy the right to board and search and turn around any boat in the channel.

Instead of rolling those eyes perhaps you should open them?

It has nothing to do with nationality... it has everything to do with Numbers....

If you have ever ridden in an elevator you will know that there is a weight limit... a max number of people before the lift may break and fall right??

Say that number was 10.

If 9 people were to ride that elevator all day long it wouldn't break...

Now say another 9 people suddenly rushed in and regardless of the protests stayed on the elevator.... what would happen??!??!

The 250,000 figure is of Legal Net Immigration. The reason why i mentioned it, as you can see from my above post, is it gives a better understanding the effects high levels of Immigration is having on our society and why it needs to come down and not continue to rise.

I'm well aware the thread is about Illegals from Calais. I'm also aware of the curret number of Illegals in the UK stands in the region of 618,000 people. Another reason why we must be rebust in our attemts to stop Illegals coming over from Calais.

Even if isn't convenient to lump both Legal and Illegal numbers together, you still can't call it 'BS', because its fact.

Oh yeah no doubt if both our countries spent more time minding our own business, our infrastructures would be stellar.

Still wondering how region has a bearing though. Of course the U.S. is geographically huge compared to where you are, and people in the U.S. who are doing the complaining live in California, Texas, and the southwestern states, and I can't address that. I live in the Eastern part of the country, and sometimes we are happy to get the labor. Nobody wants to clean houses, cut grass, roof houses, and paint anymore, and they will do it gladly.

........And well, look at my signature. It is there because I believe it.

At the same time, for our cultures to change dramatically due to immigration, makes me sad, and I would wish for more effort towards assimilation. If we saw that, I'm not sure there would be a perceived problem.

But I would be really interested in some statistics. Like % of ethnic British in the UK. What it was 10 years ago and what it is now.

Just checked 87% of your country is white british and you guys are crying that you all will become minorities!

I totally concur with your post as a Brit myself. I have lived all over the UK and whilst the issue is not as bad across the UK as it is in London, its still a massive issue. When the West Indians came over to the UK in the 50s and 60s, they integrated with British society and the same could be said for the Indian migrants that came over, they worked hard for what they now have.

That being said, the old saying "When in Rome do as the Romans do" would be a good start. We have immigrants who do not speak a word of English and do not want to learn. When i used to live in London, I was shocked at a stretch of road from Mile End to Shoreditch. Nearly every single shop is in another language, the Parks have foreign names as do the streets such as Khadija Walk in Lewisham or Iqbal Road in Oldham, Masjid Lane in Hackney. These migrants have created Ghetto's in our own capital city and it is this that causes community relation issues.

To make race relation even worse in these areas, we now have Muslim Youth Gangs walking around certain areas in Britain's Capital City patrolling at night telling anyone that "Sharia patrols"

As another poster has said, how do we know if ISIS terrorist are not at Calais trying to get in to the UK to carry out more atrocities? There will be a race war in the UK and I believe another Terrorist attack will be the Catalyst

People who study Immigration and its effects on Society and the Public service have every right to Blame the scale of Immigration we have had since 1998. Your post give more power to those who oppose high levels of Immigration but also goes down the path Cliched stereotyping.

This isn't about blaming individual Immigrants, its all about numbers.

I wrote that post just to finger some of you. But seriously UK is 87% white British, with a 1.62 fertility rate. So no you guys wont become a minority, not in the next 500 years, and you need immigration otherwise your country will stagnate. These same immigrants will work and provide man power to your social services that you all are so worried about. Yea sure, there are a few rotten ones who suck up welfare but a vast majority are hard working.

I agree but the UK should follow Australia's example of immigration control and the sooner the UK is out of the EU the sooner we can implement our own immigration controls and control our own boarders!

Not that I am not without a sense of irony.. being English myself sarcasm is inbuilt within my psyche. I do not however find any humor in the subject we are discussing.

actually the issue has nothing to do with colour... it has to do with numbers.... you were on the right track by asking for stats....

One is Germany(EU nation will a very open policy towards immigrants) and Japan(a very restrictive policy, no social benefits or future citizenship). We all know what happened, one of them stagnated while the other still has a impressive growth rate.

I agree the graphs look impressive, but 10% of international immigrants are headed towards your shores(illegal ones or legal?) Anyways someone mentioned around 250,000 net legal+illegal. I know that Germany took in 250,000 alone this year, i.e till July of 2015. We can speculate it would be 500,000 by the year end. Your graph info is a bit old(2005ish). Anyways, the Germans have a very nice policy towards migrants, the illegal ones, they made language training compulsory and after that, they give them a training post. Very efficient policy I must say. Very good for growth and economy. You guys could give it a try.
