I see all too often on these forums someone blaming one side or the other, saying one side is better than the other, using one side's policies in order to justify the other sides', etc. In a place such as ATS where the motto is "Deny Ignorance", I would hope its members would realize just how much BS the left/right wing dichotomy really is.

Liberal or Conservative, who gives a %&$#?

We're all human beings who have basic wants and needs, we all have friends and families who we love and who love us. Why can't we see that this political crap is polluting our conscience and inflating our ego's? If you are on either side I will have to say that you are ignorant, you do not see the forest for the trees. If you pander to one side or the other, you are simply fueling the fire that is this corrupt political system that has been overtaken by the corporations and their puppets. They are using your personal opinions against you, dividing this country into two sides and pitting those separate opinions against one another. A house divided falls! Why do you think our country is in free fall right now? Because they have used the political system against us.

If you identify as either Republican or Democrat then I will have to say you are totally brainwashed and only one of many cogs that operates their deception. Without YOU, they would have no power over us, but since you lean to one side or the other, you have become a log in the fire.

Why are we letting these political games ruin us? Why are we buying into it? Politics is nothing more than those in power throwing bread crumbs from the table and watching us all rush to get them, fighting and pushing each other in order to get the one crumb, all while they have the entire loaf plus the main course to themselves. The political system is bought and paid for, BOTH sides are under their control.

No matter who we vote for, "they" will always get who they want into office. Know why? Because both sides work for them and they only sponsor and give exposure to those who are on their payroll. Every politician is in it for themselves, NOT YOU! They will go where financial security is, and that financial security is where the money is. If they have a choice between passing a bill that benefits the people or passing a bill that benefits the corporations, they will ALWAYS pass the one that benefits the billionaires because the billionaires pay them to do so!

So the next time you say that one sides policies are greater than the others, remember that politicians will tell you everything you want to hear, but when it comes time to put their money where their mouth is, they pocket it instead. In the end, those politicians with the biggest spotlight on them are put their for a reason, to trick you into believing their words and lies.

You have absolutely NO POWER in this political system and that's because all the power has been bought and paid for by those few at the top. Voting is a total waste of time! Rest assured that if there are only two or three people left in the running, they are already collecting a paycheck from those who are out to hurt you and your family. Why choose the lesser of two evils?

Why label yourself? Why not just be a human being instead of left or right, liberal or conservative? There is no unity in this two-party system, only division. Realize that we are all human beings and we are all in this together. They have set up a very effective political system that divides us at our very core, so why not break the cogs in their system and remove yourself from it? Only then will a real change be made in my opinion. We have to be the change we wish to see, some guy standing at a pulpit in front of a camera will not care about you because he does not know you! They will make the change that benefits THEM, not you. That benefit comes from the billionaires giving them their paychecks!

Stop buying into it people, you are only furthering their goals! Disconnect from the system, see the political system for the complete and total charade that it is! They are giving you the tiniest scraps of power while they themselves are eating the whole buffet. They want you to think your opinion matters to them, but in reality they couldn't care less about you or your struggles as long as they are not struggling themselves!

Let's stop labeling ourselves and start working for the greater good! Neither side has the answers, the answers lie between them.

Bravo...I have been trying and trying to make this point. Left right up down it doesn't matter...the type of people 99% of politicians are is all the same. Two faces same coin...the vast majority of them...especially if they identify with either of the 2 major parties.

Eh I am gonna take a stab at it...

I personally do not think that the two political major parties are worth a thing, however that being said I think I know why people cling so tightly to their respective parties, because I once did so.

Political parties in effect act as a "short hand" for peoples basic philosophical thoughts about any given subject.
And so they adopt the name, because it is often easier than going down the laundry list of your personal views.
While someone might disagree with certain aspects of the "official party line an individual might feel that one party represents their overall views better than the other for sake of discussion.

Naturally once someone has invested their personal character in a political party when someone insults said party then, many on the insulted parties "side" become personally offended in a kind of vicarious way, and so the mud slinging begins.

The issue as you rightly pointed out is that the leadership on both sides of the isle are crooks and liars, who more often than not vote for things their constituents do not agree with, instead voting whatever gives them the most power and control over the people.

Because people are dumb as a general rule, they never seem to notice, or turn a blind eye to what they are doing, because to do so would be a bit uncomfortable. i.e. Cognitive Dissonance

Why?

Because no one wants to think that someone who "thinks like they do" would ever do something that evil. Because of this they spend a great deal of energy trying to find excuses for why their leader did some shady things, in attempt to redeem themselves in a sense.
It is as if they feel both the reflective glory of their parties victories and the reflective guilt of their shameful acts.

Your wrong and I'm right. My way is the only way. What is wrong with you? Why should I compromise with someone who obviously doesn't understand what I understand? It's not about unity, unless of course you are willing to accept that I am the only one who's opinion matters.

If we agree to compromise, sure we might have Peace, and end Elitism, but we will get there the wrong way.

End Sarcasm

Buying into the false "left/right" paradigm only divides the country and prevents real change from occurring.

At what point will we realize that by attacking each other, we are only serving TPTB's divide and rule agenda?

The end result is we are all distracted from the real forces that are tearing society apart.

Would-be global rulers cannot physically control six and a half billion humans. Therefore, they must use secrecy and deceit. Keep the human herd ignorant and fighting with each other. Divide and conquer – it’s the oldest tactic in the book. And it’s relatively easy if you control the major academic institutions, the political parties and the major mass media (a mere five multinational corporations with interlocking directorships today control everything we see and hear. Jim Marrs

www.examiner.com...

For far too long, Americans have been told they exist only as members of warring camps—as Republican or Democrat, red state or blue, conservative or liberal, right or left, religious or secular, urban or rural, majority, minority and even minority/majority. It’s no coincidence that we are described by these labels—as if these labels defined us—by elites who alone stand to benefit from the very divisions they promote.

If they can convince the rest of us that we are at each other’s throats, on the verge of civil strife, these elites can make us believe our own neighbors are our enemies and that we have nothing in common but our hatred of each other.

By herding us into these warring camps, by pitting us against one another, these elites can also distract us from the real forces tearing this society apart—the unaccountable, irresponsible political establishment that now presumes to govern in our name, with no concern for anything but its own interests. By sowing these seeds of distrust, they divide and conquer, and for too long, they have succeeded.

Break the Left vs. Right Paradigm

Dr. Sutton believes the "left" versus "right" split is fraudulent and used to control the debate and condition citizens to think along certain lines. Left-wing magazines like the "The Nation" and "The New Republic" and right-wing magazines like "The National Review were "artificially set up." The former were financed by Whitney money while the latter by Buckley. Both are "The Order."

Dr. Sutton states: "Sooner or later people will wake up. First we have to dump the trap of right and left. This is a Hegelian trap to divide and control. The battle is not between right and left; it is between us and them." Similarly, in the international field left and right political structures are artificially constructed and collapsed in the drive for one-world synthesis, i.e. authoritarian socialism controlled by monopoly capital. College textbooks present war and revolution as accidental results of conflicting forces. This is nonsense, says Dr. Sutton. They are created and financed by Wall Street to create a new world order. But you won't read this in history books.

THE BATTLE IS NOT BETWEEN LEFT AND RIGHT

Left Wing, Right Wing: of the same bird.

When its for the people they appear divided (so nothing gets done), when its for themselves and their cronies, they flap together.

Always question, never forget. Politics changes today but in the cosmos nothing changes. Politics can be like the waves of the ocean, one way, then the other but at the end, you're still where you started.

You can shout til your blue in the face 3en. Too many are not listening. Or they can't.
I mean here we are blasting this idea in thread after thread, and still they argue. Back and forth back and forth.

So what do you think. If they can't, then why bother. Why bother. But if it is just that they don't, then what?

Try and try again. No use in giving up. If what we say isn't getting to them then it is doing just as much as if we weren't saying anything. At least if we are saying something it might bring a few to the truth, however few it might be.

This is why campaign financing reform should be number one issue. Until that changes, none of our concerns and issues matter, democrat or republican.

I was actually going to make a rant.

This obsession (mainly in America) of pigeon holing one left or right is annoying and pathetic.

What funny is people people seem to label others left or right just because they disagree with a opinion even if that opinion has no relevance to left or right politics or economics.

I have been called a lefty and a right winger, once in the same thread!

I have been called a Lefty cause I am antiwar, where the # is the sense in that???????

And dont get me started on how with Americans it was to be one extreme or another.....you have to be a extreme red commie, welfare leaching, gun grabbing, FEMA camp supporting, godless, money stealing leftie or a extreme right war loving, racist, poor hating ,bible hugging, flag for brains right winger. there is no in between.....

My analysis comes from working for the Dembs, GOP and Libertarians as a media person; Currently working for the GOP getting ready to start making the campaign packages for the local candidates.

It's about money....yours and my tax dollars and how they are spent. Who gets to control the purse strings, what projects get promoted, funded and who ultimately gets the contracts and the profit. Basically institutionalized corruption, nepotism and unbridled greed. What a ****** up way to run a country eh?

When two sides are competing for a finite resource, there is bound to be divisions along ideological lines.

Or it could be a case of national schizophrenia with the inmates in charge of the crazy house. idk...

Why?

Do you ignore my support for gay marriage and stereotype me regardless?

Do you ignore my support for legalization and stereotype me regardless?

Or do you focus on the issues like lower taxes, individuality, personal responsibility and label me accordingly.

The right doesn't have all the answers. The left doesn't have all the answers. I even tried to bring about a non-partisan solution and was openly reviled by those on the left.

So lately I've stopped even trying to find common ground.

You want compromise or to find equal ground.

You come up with solutions.

I'm just going to sit back, point out the hypocrisy, and laugh my ass off at everything and everyone.

Maybe it's simple as the whole yin/yang dark/light theory. Taking these into account then you cannot be right unless someone else is wrong. It is much deeper than that but I'm not one who does the best job putting my thoughts to words.

I think that's exactly what they want you to do to be honest. This was kind of the point in my OP, they don't want us to find that common ground.

Who cares if those on the opposite side (which is a dumb idea IMO) disagree? At least find that common ground in spite of what they think or say.

Not even sure that would matter. It would simply move out of sight. Still happen just be harder to find out about. Not a great situation
