'ROWDY' RODDY PIPER DIES AT 61 From Cardiac Arrest

Wrestling legend "Rowdy" Roddy Piper has died at the age of 61 ... TMZ Sports has learned.
Piper -- born Roderick George Toombs -- died from cardiac arrest in his sleep at his home in Hollywood on Thursday night. He was discovered on Friday.
Piper was a wrestling icon -- one of the biggest stars in the WWE back in the '80s, and even wrestled in "Wrestlemania I" back in 1985 ... squaring off against Hulk Hogan and Mr. T.

He was one of the wrestlers I grew up watching with my grandfather and father. This is definitely a hit to the industry as he was one of the greats and of the last generation of true wrestlers.

That is shame. He was one of my favorites when I was kid. Always entertained, seemed to enjoy it so much. I have enjoyed his appearances as a washed out wrestler on It's Always Sunny as well, super funny.

Thank for letting us know, I might not have otherwise. Think me and the hubby will watch They Live after dinner tonight, as a tribute.

Never was into wrestling, but loved They Live. The premise and story line was unique, and what "they" looked like with the glasses gave me bad dreams after watching it for the first time. Sorry to hear of his passing.

Probably a heart attack brought on by years of steroid abuse. I hope today's WWE stars are paying attention to their likely future.
