A police officer in Huntsville, Alabama broke down on the witness stand on Tuesday and admitted that he had lied to cover up violent behavior by one of his superior officers.

According to WAFF, Officer Joshua Bates testified in U.S. District Court that he lied about Officer Brett Russell’s vicious beating of a handcuffed suspect. He is the second witness to admit to covering up Russell’s actions during the Dec. 23, 2011 arrest of Gary Wayne Hopkins, who was taken into custody following a domestic disturbance.

Bates was the last witness called on Tuesday. He said under oath that he had lied at least three times to shield Russell from the consequences of his attack on Hopkins, which took place when Hopkins was handcuffed in the back of a police cruiser.

There needs to be citizen review of LEOs corruption, unlawfulness and brutality. Obviously "internal Affairs" is biased and not to be believed especially when the "blue code" is in effect.

They all do it, all the time. That is what has to change.. It goes right to the top, all the D. A s know whats going on all the judges know whats going on.

Because alot of them were cops first. So they just continue to cover and cover and throw people in jail and get their kickbacks.

No one is going to fix anything just going after cops we have to change how everything is done.

There was a citizen review.

After this incident the city council decided to put these cops back on the force against the recommendation of the chief.

I would be voting every single council member out of office. ......

Funny I was tasked a day or two ago by a cop/mod in another thread to prove that cops lie for each other.

We'll Semper.........here's your proof.

It is often rotten from the leadership down, we have a woman sueing the RCMP because her husband commited suicide. He was an officer and spokesman during a case that blew up big time(Robert Dziekanski). Lies were told by 4 officers that tazered a guy to death at the Vancouver airport and much later a cellphone vid was released that showed the lies. The vid was kept under wraps and I believe it took a court order to come out..if not for that it would of went away. The spokesman wanted the correct info coming out but because the truth looked bad for the RCMP the leadership denied him. He was demoted shipped to another detachment and ostracized by his collegues..for trying to do the right thing. He later commited suicide.
Oh, the 4 officers were all charged with contempt..same incident, they all colluded to fabricate the story..here is the interesting thing, the 2 white cops found not guilty, the black cop and native cop guilty..wtf, same evidence, same incident..just strange.
