Hi all,

I would like to open an honest discussion on how prolonged exposure to ATS or any other doom gloom conspiracy websites have towards your own outlook/attitude on life . A lot of the topics on here are really interesting but depressing as well only because it would seem nothing gets done its just a bitch session without any real online or local community action.

Since ive been a member ive seen my attitude or hopefulness toward life decline, maybe i care to much, it seems to be outside my circle of control but inside my circle of concern and that is just depressing ! if the salty members can give some advice as how to not just get so discouraged. I know there are a lot of young people here and would like to steer them away from the Gloom and towards some encouraging & Hopeful middle Ground.

Thanks.

You don't have to read it everyday, is 1. Not clicking on NEW every time can help. Click on Forums and pick a topic that interests you.

If politics/ US political madness forum starts to get you down, ignore it for a couple days.

There are so many things to talk about on here or just read that are uplifting.

I done a thread similar to this a while back . Sure the doom can get you down if you let it but contrary to a lot of doom threads the world is still here Those involving human suffering , well people have done bad things to people for a long long time now .

I find myself in the same boat sometimes but the thing is to live life using what you know to plan your life as best you can to avoid the bad things that might happen if they do.

Use what you've learned to try to plan what you will do if they happen. Plan on the basis of "what might happen" and not what 'is going to happen.'

Don't consume your life trying to change the world unless that is what you want to do, just discharge your obligation to your self to try and alert others to what you know but don't try to convince them at all.

You need to step back a bit from all the doom and gloom and continue as normal, Life goes on but stay abreast of what happens so you know whats going on. Knowledge is power.

I must admit I don't take my own advice most of the time because this is about all I do.

hope that helps a bit.

You've been a member for less than a year. My advice... calm down. Please accept that not everything is a conspiracy, with the majority being debunked. In fact the vast majority of threads on this website are historical and interesting. I spend some days just patiently absorbing some of the interesting data from the regular posters on this website. It can take your mind off the painful task of actually doing some work.

I find ATS less depressing than the news sites. There we are told about the horrors of the world and we can't even say how we feel about it in response.

ATS gives me hope because I see the indomitable human spirit at work. Control this lot? No chance. Jolly good thing, too.

Good responses from everybody. There is a bunch of interesting reading in the forums. I find myself enjoying the cooking forum more than anything now. It's all in what you expose yourself to. Don't get sucked into all the doom porn. When the world starts to end we will all know at the same time

There is way more than doom and gloom in the forums here, should you care to seek them out.

You like cars? - Go to the Automotive forum.

You like TV? - Go to the appropriate forum etc.

Click the link in my sig. See how much non-tongue in cheek doom porn you find there! Lol.

Relax, just click on what makes you happy and comfortable.
Just by checking the latest posts, you are under no obligation to either click or respond to. Unless you so wish.

Should you wish to respond, you have as much right to be heard and treated with due respect as any member here.

Have fun ...

If you are becoming depressed because of the end of the world threads, I suggest you take a different approach to them, or stop reading them.

I read end of the world gloom for entertainment purposes only. The same texts that predict gloom also say no one will know when, and at the end of gloom is Peace and Love, the age of enlightenment.

So for those who actually find themselves living through the gloom of the days predicted, what is on the other side far outweighs the current gloom we are experiencing.

If you are talking about the wars, racism, out of control police force, or political leaders who believe the constitution is no better than toilet paper, then I can relate.

To me these are daily reminders that we don't live in Lotus Land, but a world truly governed by freewill.

This is when I turn to faith. Faith that God has a plan. I find myself questioning the plan at times and wondering why God didn't draw lines in the sand, so to speak. Why did he gIve us the freewill to do some of the atrocities that we read about here on ATS? This is an impossible question to answer, so I accept that his plan has a purpose.

The only thing we can do is shine our Light on those who we interact with. We can make changes in the world albeit small ones at times.

When the time is right God himself will raise a messenger for mankind who will shine the Light clearly for all to see. Something that is out of your control.

What ATS gives me is the opportunity to express my anger and frustration about the world we live in, knowing that others share my same frustration. In this I feel a type of Brotherly Love shining through the gloom.

But ATS has also provided me a forum to share my Light with others who are seeking a more spiritual experience. In this I know that I can help others find inspiration to be the change they want to see in themselves. In this I take comfort knowing that I am doing all that God has inspired me to do at the moment.

It is good to empathize with the gloom you see, and be reminded that this is not Lotus Land. But it can be depressing. Sometimes you simply have to let your Light Shine and accept a cosmic thank you from the one who gave us freewill.

Be a Light to others and accept that God does indeed have a plan, and his plan will lead us to the age of enlightenment, when he has decided it is time.

Until then understand that you can make a difference to those who are in your life daily. Spread your Light as far as inspiration will allow you.

Take pride in your empathy and accept the Grace from God that comes to those who shine their Light in the darkness.
