I'm not religious but I think its an exciting project. Can't wait to see it completed.

A creationist group in the United States has raised US$20 million (AU$26.9 million) to reconstruct a full-scale, working model of Noah's Ark – the ship that saved Noah and all of the world's animals from a flood in the Bible's book of Genesis.

The Kentucky-based "Christianity-defending" group, Answers in Genesis, is now two-thirds of the way to reaching its fundraising target of $29.5 million, thanks to donations from thousands across the world who want to see its 'Ark Encounter' project take sail.

Answers in Genesis, a group that believes the world is around 6000 years old, is basing the construction of the ark on "the dimensions provided in the Bible (Genesis 6)" and "in accordance with sound established nautical engineering practices of the era", according to its website.

Pretty sure a lot of the mega-churches down here in the south are breakaway arks.

Knock on wood…

Enough wood to build that will cost more than 20 million.

Nother scam. Who wants to bet they run off with the money?

It will be interesting to see how they accommodate the fresh water aquarium on this ark that obviously kept the fresh water species alive and separated from all the other Marine water species during the forty days of rain that the ark endured all those years ago!

They better hurry, September 23 is coming fast! It'll be awkward if it's not finished in time.

I can't wait to see what their excuse is going to be when they realize they can only fit a fraction of a percent of all the species on Earth on this thing (assuming it even gets built).

Typical, that they would waste 20 million on this joke, rather than using it for Christian things, like, oh, I dunno, feeding and sheltering the homeless.

"in accordance with sound established nautical engineering practices of the era"

Well for starters
they better get rid of that modern tower crane
and build one from scratch.

*sigh*

You are obviously new to this. Let me tell you how it worked.

When God miracled the lions (and other predators) into temporary vegetarians for their voyage on the Ark he made aaalllllll the fresh water fishies able to breathe salt water so they would not have go on the Ark.

Despite what may or may not have happened in the past regarding the tale of the ark, one thing is clear, if the dimensions and materials, as equated are accurate, then this vessel would not have survived what is commonly referred to today as the "high seas" that is, ocean more than 200nm off the coast. Seabed topography dictates, to a certain degree and among other factors, that swell wave height increases with a decrease in water depth - hence surf-able waves.

If the whole world was flooded, it would have lasted about 30 minutes I reckon.

Hmm,

Starving children in Africa...............

Isis running amuck committing genocide on fellow Christians............

Poverty and homelessness in America.................

Nahh screew it, let's waste over $20,000,000 and build a pointless boat that may or may not have ever existed in the first place because its in the bible.

Christians some days!

Some guy in Holland built a replica which is now a big hit with tourists.
www.today.com...

He built it because he had a dream that holland would be flooded..Probably not the first Dutchman to have such a dream,as a lot of Holland is land reclaimed from the sea.

I guess getting North Korean citizens killed(by firing squad) because they possessed bibles that were smuggled into the country by Christians via balloons wasn't enough waste of money and life. So now they're going to throw away $29,000,000 to build a boat that will accomplish......what exactly?
