Um, I think you are misinterpreting the OP. He is stating that NOTHING has changed since the SCOTUS ruling when it comes to his marriage in response to the Ultra-Conservatives and Fundies claiming that same sex marriage diminished theirs. It was all tongue-in-cheek.

If thats the case... sorry , Thank you for the clarification!

The correct term is "spouse". You better start practicing that term. Its been the only byproduct I've seen so far that's not worth swallowing, lol.

Wrong. No one is going to be forced to refer to their husband or wife as spouse in their everyday life. No one is going to put you in jail or fine you or penalize you in any way for saying you have a husband or a wife.

No. You may not feel the consequence now, but the butterfly wings do cause hurricanes.

And when that hurricane hits, its going to destroy us

Meh. More likely a meteor will hit the planet and destroy us. Not a metaphorical meteor either - a real one. It's happened before when there were only dinosaurs around, and it's going to happen again - sometime. Not God, just a random meteor.
I'd worry more about that than I would gay marriage.

Ahh yes..social decay.. Moral outrage...The destruction of the family unit.

How about, instead of being all fire and brimstone about it, you just wait, like the rest of us waiting for society to break down, and MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS.

Whatever destroys us has been in effect for decades already. If you think everything was just fine until the gays started to marry, I don't know where you've been... This country has been devolving for more than 50 years... and it has absolutely ZERO to do with gay people loving each other and marrying... That's ridiculous!

Taxpayer money being used to prop corporations(in contravention of real capitalist theory), war and the expansion of Islamic Extremism around the world, a surveillance state erected under the premise of fighting terrorism being used to invade the privacy of Americans, concerted efforts to ban, or circumvent the right to arms by the violation of other constitutional rights like the 4th amendment. All this stuff going on that we should be concerned about actually causing the decay of society, actually causing the erosion of rights, actually causing PAIN to REAL PEOPLE...

...but it's the gays getting married...That's what's gonna do it.

Of course it is the gays. Because like all nasty Christian fundie rhetoric, somehow this one particular "sin" is the one that destroys us. First off I don't believe that mass "sin" is what destroys the world. I believe some event will happen whether known in advance or not, and that will be it. BUT if pretending for a moment that god is as stated in the Christian bible and sin really does bring down the wrath and the end of the world...why is it just the gays? Why not the thousand other personal and moral crimes and sins brought on by hetero people? So me having sex with a guy will be what destroys society? Not the rampant hatred and destruction of the economy while fat cats sit on their thrones with millions in the bank and laugh? Not the chronic divorce rate, spousal abuse, rape, murder, infidelity, lying and cheating that have been brought about by hetero people? That is all ok but if a gay guy does any of those things it is the sign of the end.

Make no mistake, I am not saying LGBTers don't lie, rape, murder, cheat, steal, etc. I am understanding and realistic enough to know that an orientation does not automatically make you a criminal nor automatically make you not a criminal. We all do. It's personality and some internal issue...not your orientation. I guarantee every week during mass or church there are plenty of hetero "normal" folks sitting pretty in their pew when they know damn well the untold sins they perform daily.

but yes...it's my fault for messing around with a guy.

That's a stupid argument. I'm also intolerant of murderers, child molesters, rapists, etc. They HURT people. Does that make me a bigot?

The anti-gay Christian-fundamentalist movement also HURTS people. You bet I'm intolerant of them.

Gay people who just want to get married aren't HURTING anyone.

I'm not intolerant of anyone simply because they're Christian. There are many fine Christians. It's those who do their best to HURT others that I'm intolerant of.

So because you disagree with an outspoken christian and their beliefs offend somebody that means they are trying to hurt people? they cant be kind and loving just because they dont accept a society norm?

This is wrong. I havent said anything about faith because I know how so many of you cringe at the word religion here. And yet you still attack it. I have never said everything was good until now, because the lack of faith and morals in our children has been proof of decay.

The real hate I see here isnt coming from the religious

But go ahead argue your little hearts out

Im not trying to change society. I accept they way its going but I dont agree with it. There is a community that supports me on this. All im saying is be ready for a backlash, which many of you say is impossible. Very surprising for a conspiracy forum.

Word of advice kids: Dont get your panties all bunched up because somebody doesnt agree with you, even if you know you are right. That is still called ignorance.

I don't even know how to address your post... My point was clear. Just because a person is intolerant of WRONGS in the world, doesn't make them a bigot. Maybe you should read my post again (or for the first time).

It's not your average Christian that hurts people, it's the anti-gay movement USING the Christian religion to deny people their rights that hurts people.

Maybe a butterfly analogy would help...

What kind of Backlash?

the more people act like Westboro, the more people protest GLBTQ+ events and people, the more you show the world your true ignorance...

Yes there are always going to be hateful people, but the more you divide yourself the more people see your true colors and actually work against you...

I don't mean you specifically, just in General

I'm sure there will be some backlash. Some gay couples will sure churches, but they will lose. Our legal system (the first amendment and freedom of religion) will prevail, as it should. I don't know why people are so "afraid" of a little "backlash" in the form of perfectly legal actions. Everyone's entitled to their opinion.

Right, and i figured at some point a same-sex couple will sue, and i know as soon as that happens people are going to jump at it as a way to further attack the Equality Movement for GLBTQ people.

what someone does, doesn't represent everyone, or that it should take away the equality of People

We live in a society that does not value the concept of marriage. Sexual relations outside of the bonds of marriage is not only normal to society but it is also pressured. Pornography is everywhere and destroys marriages. Divorce has become normal. Same sex marriage is a proof that our society does not value a traditional family unit.

The voice of the people has decided that my son can have a gay marriage and that it is okay. But ill be damned if I let a popular trend decide what is acceptable for my family. Maybe its true, maybe it isnt, but it is not the role of society to decide what is truth.

My son will grow up in world where everybody has had sex with their gender at least once. Could even recommended to try it out just to see if its for you. And it doesnt stop at same sex marriage. If we dont stand for the traditional family unit, the next liberty people will fight for will be child molesters to have a right to their sexual orientations. If your little ones consent to sex with perverts, you will become the ignorant one for not accepting that. Can it happen? Of course it can. But that doesnt make it right.

Im not claiming this is what will happen, but in chaos theory it can happen.

Every human being on the planet has the freedom to commit suicide, whether society recognizes it or not. Its an extreme example but who is going to stop us when we all follow each other over the cliff? We have the freedom to not have kids, and if society decides that we dont want kids, the human race becomes extinct in a hundred years. Can it happen? Of course it can.

There is opposition in all things. Where there is a small victory there is a major loss.

I dont want to argue with you guys, because you are my brother. I only wish to warn of the possible outcomes.

And let me warn you that is a wrong way to think, albeit your right and i wont argue to change your mind

I don't know if you understand that we in the GLBTQ+ are People like any Non-GLBTQ+ person. giving us the right and recognized Marriage is no different than a Straight Recognized Marriage, it's not granting a "Special Right" or changing the Laws of consent like if you purpose Pedophiles could marry children.

You say people don't value the concept of Marriage, yet these people are fighting for the concept of Marriage to be legal for them. they want Marriage, they want one partner, some want children and the white picket fence, what concept of Marriage are you talking about?

That's why people have been fighting for YEARS to have the right to marry? That doesn't make any sense.

And even if that's true, is that a problem? Should marriage, as an institution, be valued, necessarily? Some people value marriage, others don't. And that's OK. Our society does not value many things. Marriage isn't "special". (I have been HAPPILY married for 23 years and very much value it.)

Same sex marriage is a proof that our society does not value a traditional family unit.

I disagree. Same-sex marriage is proof that our Constitution is valued and that the Supreme Court is doing its job... Same-sex marriage is proof that equal rights are valued. MANY people value a traditional family unit. Even gay people! They want to get married and have kids and raise a family.

The voice of the people has decided that my son can have a gay marriage and that it is okay.

Actually, the framers of the Constitution decided that.

My son will grow up in world where everybody has had sex with their gender at least once.

REALLY?

If we dont stand for the traditional family unit, the next liberty people will fight for will be child molesters to have a right to their sexual orientations.

Ding, ding, ding! And you win the prize for comparing gay people to child molesters! Congratulations!

I only wish to warn of the possible outcomes.

Consider us duly warned of the hazardous outcomes of treating all citizens equally under the law.
