NASA's Opportunity rover has roamed more than 26 miles across Mars over the past 11 years – and now you can watch its epic journey in just eight minutes, thanks to a time-lapse video released by the space agency.

The time-lapse documents Opportunity's marathon across the Red Planet with a series of images captured by its cameras between January 2004 and April 2015.

The heat shield from Opportunity's entry vehicle.

Here is a link to Sol 335 Pan Cam images showing the heat shield and the springs on the surface:

There are multiple images of the heat shield taken from about Sol 322 to about Sol 344.

Awesome video! Thanks for posting!

I'm curious what this is in the middle of the pic. Could be rocks but Idk.. Looks kinda tall for a random rock pile.

Upper middle, close to the horizon..

That was Sol 3966. Here is a larger version of what might be that image:

Here's a picture taken on the next Sol (3967) using the Front Hazard Camera. It looks like rocks.

Maybe the video should come with an epilepsy warning as there is a lot of flicker and jumping between frames. I think the idea and concept is great, things are just moving a bit too fast for my preference.
