Every year at ATS - September - The Month for Doom Porn Predictions.

Yes folks. If you hang around ATS long enough, That is year after year after year, you find that certain topics always pop up and a lot of them are predictions of doom. Doom Porn.

I always seem to notice that on the run up to September there are more topics that appear to have some kind of disaster forecast or financial crunch or large scale military movement training for Marshall Law or Chinese training near the USA border in Mexico or some other kind of disaster or catastrophe, And it will all usually be happening in September.

I notice it usually starts in about April, just a few murmurs, then by June/July it's really swinging, come September then nothing happens except people have some doom porn predictions for November, just a few, but in October/November there's some doom porn for January and start of Feb. Then in about Jan/Feb there's a few predictions for July.

That's just how I've noticed the doom porn predictions usually go.

Anyone else notice these sort of doom porn trends?

Yeah, I did a thread asking what's up with all the doom porn in the Rant section. There do seem to be several mentioning September.

Yep I have actually been a member since 2008 and you are right on the money OP. I do however believe the economy is going to crash this fall......September-November time frame......Oh crap I just made a prediction in a thread calling these predictions out......Gotta love irony.

I wonder if someone has ever made a list of all the 1000s of failed fall doom porn predictions.....Hmm. OP you have been around even longer than me do you remember the Dark Knight prediction.......I think that was the username? This member made a prediction and than headed into the hills.

I've noticed this trend myself. Personally I think its because subconsciously people don't like the beginning of fall, more traffic, kids go back to school (more driving, school supplies, ect), the on set of cold weather, raking leaves, winterizing house...basically fall means more work and more money.

This also goes along with my theory (especially concerning this and the new years doom stuff) to basically mean...people want an outside catalyst to help them escape their crappy lives. An excuse to change the status quo going on in their world because they feel incapable of doing that themselves.

Doom porn lovers always love to think of how "easy" it would be to live off the land and live in simpler times (without time down to the minutes, like it is in the modern world).

I think there are a whole lot of people out there that basically just want to be farmers and never had the chance to make that happen. Live on your own lot of land, be your own boss, all that.

Well it's the end of summer and for some the end of the world i guess?

Dammit Rage don't ruin ATS, we depend on this doom porn, okay?

Let us have our seasonal filth and trash predictions of doom and destruction, it's obviously what we live for.

I do remember the Dark Kn1ght prediction but I can't remember what it was for the life of me.

But then there's the dark knight satellite as well.

It had me going.......The taking off into the hills and never posting again freaked my out. The darn spiral in the sky years ago freaked me out also.......Well I have a few.........

I believe you are 100% correct here. I certainly would not mind that change, however i know it is not as simple as that.

This september worries me little now...though i think the volume of doom porn threads is this year side for maybe 2012. But i will wait for some doom threads with Some better evidence and theories!

The dark Night of the Soul begins following the Autumnal Equinox and influences people to be more ....doomsayerish.

Happens every year.

That vitamin D. We seem to be getting less and less. If you have high enough levels it lasts several months. I think maybe September when people get SAD now.

Hmm this is very plausible and might actually be a reason for the fall doom porn. The poster above talked about the dark night of the soul........Gonna have to check that one out.

Humanity for some reason always gravitate to something dark as a way to end their own species. I have yet to hear any so called predictions of our survival and enlightenment to colonize the galaxy we live in....

Oh I forgot Im a human so I have to think about how our race is doomed. I literally hate the human race for what it is. I wish I was an alien.... Genetic alterations please? Anyone? I really hate calling myself a human. Nothing but scum of the universe.

The Elenin hysteria few years back was a blast too, it changed from a supposed alien fleet to a supposed deathstar in a matter of days , still recovering from the laughter.

Yeah my mum and I bought like $500 worth of groceries one year because there was a possibility of the US not extending their debt and I got caught in that hysteria here on ATS. And got a bit worried when I saw a line of people outside a foreign exchange place on the build up to the deadline.

Whats the point of making a prediction that comes true and the ATS response is 'What ev.a'

The funny part about it is that they try to throw in as many dates as possible in September. I think I saw one for September 19 and the another for 22-23 and then another one that mentioned the 24th. In other words, let's just mention as much dates in September and cross our fingers something happens on one of those dates. Nonsense !
