2% percent of the Muslim population having a some what positive view of ISIS in no way shape or form means they are supporters. I have a some what positive view of Jeb Bush but, I am not likely to vote for the guy. If you hate the US or Iran or Syria or the Iraqi government you might have a some what favorable opinion of those fighting them. That in the end means nothing of course.

That's the point. You recognized that this group doing the calculations is an anti-Muslim group. That's why they presented their figures as 42 million Muslims support ISIS instead of 2.8% of Muslims support ISIS. It's all about presentation. Clearly the 42 million number is more likely to exhibit a negative response from you towards Muslims.

Consider this, those 42 million Muslims are likely spread all over the place, further diluting their opinions and desires among the populaces they live among. And don't try to suggest that these guys would be radicalized, because the article clearly said that ISIS' TRUE support is only 8.5 million strong (0.57%).

This study is CLEARLY being presented as an anti-Muslim hit piece. I'm glad you partially recognized that, but you should definitely have just ran with it. Always be wary of the way data is presented to you. Flat numbers mean little when compared against the total population and percentages mean nothing when the total population is low. These are classic propaganda techniques.

The top ten militaries in the world only number 10 million soldiers combined.

5. Russia – 1,027,000

7. Pakistan – 617,000
8. Iraq – 578,269
9. Iran – 523,000
10. Turkey – 510,600

So 42 million supporters is massive over the top for a bunch of backwards barbarians. You cannot paint it any other way.

They are not supporters they are people that have a "some what positive" view of ISIS. 44% of Chinese have a favorable opinion of the US. That does not mean the US has almost 500 million supporters in China that will join us in taking over.

It's still more people that are not bothered by gruesome beheadings than there are all the people in military uniform on the planet.

It does not even mean that much. If you hate Iran, or Assad in Syria or the Iraqi government or the West, you might have some what positive view of ISIS or anybody who fights them. Everybody in the West supports the Kurds because they are fighting ISIS and the Kurds have a long history of terrorism, murder, assassination etc. We over look that now because the are fighting our enemies.

Not really a fair comparison, because as you said most people don't know about what Kurds have been up to but Islamic State has aired their brutality across social media for all to see and know about.

Islam is in great danger because it lacks a central authority to denounce ISIS and to declare them heretics outside the Umma.

The most helpful thing would be to gather senior Sunni, Ismaeli, Ibadi, Shia, Sufi, Alawite and Alevi spiritual authorities together with the heads of Muslim nations to issue the necessary fatwas and effectively publicly 'excommunicate' ISIS, its leaders, soldiers, and civilians. The excommunication would then extend to those groups that have allied themselves with Daesh/ISIL/ISIS like Boko Haram.

Although this kind of centralised action in foreign to Islam, it would be the best step they could take or Islam will continue to be seen as an anarchic religion that thinks nothing of beheading, raping, and beating Christian and Yezidi men, women, and children among others.

Such a unified action would drop those numbers supporting ISIS. No one wants to learn that their dying for ISIS is not a martyrdom and they will be going to hell instead of the paradise of pleasures.

I would never portray them as backwards barbarians. They have enormous skill with social media, building governmental infrastructure in their occupied territories, and they have a firm grip by the rule of Sharia applied as acts of terror on the native populace. It is their video production techniques, their songs, their propaganda that spread like wild fire connecting with an extremely large number of restless, angry Islamic people.

Daesh/ISIL/ISIS seem to have excellent financial and technological support from Saudi Arabia and Qatari royal families, and the CIA and MOSSAD keep them well supplied. In short, they have brilliant advisors from the CIA, MOSSAD, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia. And they will be more than ready for the mother of all civil wars between the various branches of Islam - a goal of MOSSAD.

Daesh will be happy to slaughter Shia, Ismaeli, Alawite, Alevi, Sufi, Ibadi, Twelvers, Seveners, and let's not forget the Druze and the people of the Ba'hai Faith. It would be an extraordinary bloodletting. Saudi Arabia's only goal is to see Wahabbist/Salafist Islam come out on top. The MOSSAD just wants to see the Muslims destroy each other and devastate their militaries and nations.

And the CIA? ... well, who know what goes on the dark minds of the black budget folks and the intelligence covens in the US government. They probably want open warfare as a cover for obtaining ancient artefacts and technologies that would put them ahead of everyone else on this planet.

Actually I can and I did if you'd read what I wrote. For the record 42 million people don't support ISIS. It clearly says that those 42 million aren't the real supporters. The real supporters are the 8.5 million people. Then we also have the fact that these statistics are from a bigoted source, so it is likely they are inflated.

Besides, even if those numbers WERE real and accurate, there is no way that ISIS could ever activate all those people in a coordinated fashion to take on any military. Even the lower figure of 8.5 million.

Nice to see you still buying into the anti-Muslim rhetoric and propaganda. I knew it was a matter of time before I saw you in this thread.
