This will take you to a link with a plane getting clipped by a drone. Now, immediately 3 things come to mind.

This is NY I think....

1. Attach explosives
2. Clip the wing to try to down
3. That has a hell of a range

What are your thoughts on this incident. I know I have read about a lot of reports but not one hitting a plane.

and just to add...

Link

A passenger airliner had to take evasive action to avoid hitting a drone in the skies above New York Friday morning.

Shuttle America Flight 2708 reported climbing 200 feet to avoid an unmanned aircraft on the way to LaGuardia Airport, according to a statement from the Federal Aviation Administration.

The drone was reportedly operating in the area near Prospect Park in Brooklyn at an altitude of 2,700 feet. The FAA said it would investigate the near-collision, but didn’t provide any information on who was operating the drone.

Story is 3 weeks old but video posted today saying this morning?

The video is on Southwest. There are no reports of a Southwest 737 being damaged anywhere to be found. This would be a huge story already around the aviation sites.

It's only a matter of time before it happens, but right now other than this video there's zero corroboration.

Just reading the comments on the liveleak site and it mentions that the plane wingtip has a Branit.com logo. Branit.com is a visual effects site. I don't know if that is conclusive in proving it a fake, just bringing it up.

Branit

Maybe it came from this short?

I would say fake. The colors are Southwest it looks like, so it should have the name running up it.

It seems so, I am sure this would have been viral as well on the news and such. I found an aeroplane clip about an emergency landing, but it does not include that particular shot in it, perhaps an outtake?

Yes, not being an expert on aviation I could not say, but you are, so that is good enough for me.
Good sfx though I think, very realistic.

I don't think a quadcopter, weighing a few ounces, is going to do that kind of damage, even in flight. That would be fiberglass IMO to come apart like that. I've seen those winglets hit something pretty hard and show less damage.

Minus name, but the colors appear to match.

Those winglets are made of fiberglass and carbon fiber.
Had a seagull rip off most of a winglet on the 737, so sure a drone could do that.

The 737 flies just fine with one (or both) winglets gone, and "when" that happens it's a 10 days MEL.

I've seen pictures some that hit a building that didn't have a lot of damage showing. But either way, there are no reports of a Southwest suffering damage, or a report of a collision, so I'm still calling BS.

Might have been widebody Boeing or Airbus with metal winglets.
On the B737 they are are easily damaged.

I do however agree that video is most likely Bravo Sierra.

Someone got the footage to youtube,

I should have added that the publisher, (in edit) is calling it a likely fake.
Also from the video maker,

Bruce Branit @branitfx
For the record, of course it is fake.

And the video itself proves it's a hoax. Southwest 737 winglets all have "Southwest.com" printed on them. The one n the video does not.

OK, i understand that most peoiple are not well versed in cgi and what is and isnt computer generated....

But :

1- This looks fake. How can you not see that Op?
2- if this happened, dont you think it would be a HUGE story?
3- How can a tiny, lightweight drone do this kind of damage to a plane wing? Is the wing made of matchsticks?

Use your eyes and brain and common sense. Sheesh
