Look what my dog found!

We kept hearing one of the chickens cackling like they do when they lay eggs and could never figure out where the eggs were. My friend thought that the other chickens were eating them. Well, yesterday I was out in the yard having cuddle time with my dogs and my oldest became very interested in something. I tend to pay attention to them when they're like that so I looked to see what had her attention.
I saw one of the hens walking across the yard. She's one of the ones who roosts outside. We never could get her to stay in the hen house. Anyway, I saw all these little things around her. From where I was sitting, I couldn't tell what they were. I got up and walked closer and saw that she had eight chicks with her. Mystery solved. I have no idea where they were nesting but they're in an unused kennel with a dog house now, so they can be safe. The little fluff balls sure are cute. The pics aren't good because they were taken with a tablet but here they are:

She's good at finding stuff like that. I don't know if she would have eaten them or not but I'm glad she came when I called her.

Thanks. I'd tell her that but she already has a swelled head. Kidding. I always tell her she's a pretty dog. Probably why she has such a swelled head.

The chicks seem to be doing well. I'm trying to figure out which roosters are the dads because they all look different.

Yeah, the chicks are cool little things. I like watching them. They're like little fuzzy minions.

I was in the same situation last week except it involved one of my Muscovy ducks.
