Suspect(s) in armoured vehicle in standoff after gunfire at Dallas Police Dept. HQ

Two "puffs of smoke" just seen coming from the van. Not sure if is it an explosive detonated by the robot, or gunfire coming from the vehicle.

ETA: CNN reporting that another .50 cal shot fired into the windshield of the van from police.

CNN says DPD tweeted they penetrated the windshield with the .50 finally.

Not sure if it's the puffs you saw, because of course I looked down at my phone only to hear "there's a puff of smoke."

As I saw it, the puffs of smoke did not come from the front of the van, but more to the side or rear (where the robot is currently located).

I don't actually know who but AUTOMATICS are REAL hard to get ahold of. I 'd say this a CARTEL op to begin hitting Dallas Pd.
The fact that they weren't succcessful at actually HITTING anyone, they aren't really effectively trained,hasty ambushes would have killed at least SOME officers and there were multiple attacks so it was not hasty it WAS planned ahead but poorly executed.

I'm sure at some point someone is going to start screaming "crazy vets!" in order to justify putting us under a watchful government microscope.

In this situation, I get it. That's some serious level of danger there. I just wish they had been able to take him alive so he could rot in prison. Also to hear more from him, he got his kid back so why the revenge... obviously he was a nutjob so that may have been impossible to know anyway, but still.

I was merely pointing out historical references where people might have or actually did arm themselves quite heavily in opposition to a corrupt sherifs department taking and holding people they value. If indeed a grievance with the PD is the issue here I thought it might be relevant that this is not the first time something like this has happened. We still do not have all the facts.

If motivation was to get back at police who took his son then why attack Dallas PD and not Paris TX Sheriff's department.
