a reply to: hutch622That's got nothing to do with what I posted and it's no real excuse for his behaviour. I feel sorry for the guy he has a tough job, but maybe, if he was suffering from such issues he shouldn't have been working, he could have done some real harm.

Personally I'm happy to see more people going in the streets in the US.

Now if that energy could be used for requesting positive reforms? One man can dream.

Its no real excuse . Really no excuse . Get a grip you live in la la land . And your vets coming back suffering from PTSD have no excuse either . Or paramedics burning out . Perhaps his resigning was just him being overwhelmed and saying i don't need this #e any-more . You sir/madam are a harsh judge . Get back to your desk .

Are these videos meant to justify the activities of an American police officer who turned up to a pool party in a housing estate and started acting like he was in Afghanistan.

Your words .

a reply to: hutch622nmaybe he should have resigned before attending the pool party call out, where he man handled a young girl and drew his weapon on others. Things could have been much worse.

Did you bother to read the OP?

Don't answer. You're one of the first to jump on the "America sucks all your cops kill people" bandwagon as recently as what, Tuesday?

Can't imagine anything in the OP came across as anything other "I hate America and this sounds like he's telling me to realize America doesn't have the copyright on all this stuff and I can't tolerate that!"

ETA - maybe all those other countries should stop posting videos on the web, yea?

I thought they were pandering to fata$$es.

I used to work at Carl's Jr. back in the mid-90s as a 15- or 16-year-old...their marketing has really gone down hill.

The problem is, one person's "positive reform" is another's "right-wing, statist agenda" or another's "socialist conspiracy."

The only positive reform I can see that is worthwhile is firing all of congress and the senate and then starting over, not letting any incumbents run. I'd hate to see my man Thomas Massie leave the House, but if it's for the greater good...

a reply to: Shamrock6 your cops are excessively violent, but if it's only me that notices it, it's obviously not a problem. It seems most Americans defend cops use of power. It's no surprise you have even more militarisation of your police force. To serve and protect. To protect you from your fears. To keep you all safe in bed. I will ignore the threads from now on as it's clearly something most of you want and don't complain about. No skin oFf my nose

I think the fact that cops beat the hell out of everyone around the world is well established. It's just getting constant airplay about American cops. It's wrong and needs to stop, but so does the America bashing crap. Your cops are just as violent when they have unruly crowds.

These are riots in major cities not a pool party attended by 15 year olds in a housing estate.Trying to compare the two just emphasises how OTT that police officer was. What a joke

No, they are not. Read the whole OP and you will see what I had to say about cops and violence.

No, I have not. This thread is not about the 'pool party'. I did not mention the pool party in any way. This thread is about rioting that happens all over the world and my thoughts when posting were centered around Ferguson and Baltimore and also the general attitude shown toward the US when they happen here.

Some people have to crap all over others OP's and troll a thread. I believe when I scrape poop off my shoes, I leave it and hope others avoid said "poop".

You guys need to get over the fact that ats is an international forum and sometimes your country is going to recieve some criticism. Get over it and take it on the chin.

And you need to get over the fact that when you base your opinion of an entire group of "whatever" off a comparative handful of YouTube videos, you'll get called on it.

Chin up, tut tut, cheerio!

I have no problem with discussing the problems in the US. Since ATS is an international forum I find it odd that we rarely see this level of vitriol aimed at other countries. Riots happen everywhere and yet when they happen here, the threads become long and drawn out with people in other countries trashing the US. After a while it gets old. So, where are you from and what horrible things have your government and police done?

Please stop doing this on Khaleesi's thread:

a reply to: Wookiep No, lol. It is right wingers that use the term 'Murica to insult the government. I have no idea where you got your idea.

I can't say where the term first originated. In my experience it has been used as a derogatory term aimed at 'rednecks' that love their guns. Maybe your explanation is true but, that has not been my personal experience. I used it in the OP to point to the mocking attitude people tend to have in these threads. It is not the central theme of this thread but, it is an interesting phenomenon.
