The wife and I are sitting around knocking a few back and listening to some music. She popped in Metallica "And Justice For All" which is one of my
all time favorite albums but I had not listened to it in years.
Listening to "Eye of the Beholder" I just kept thinking about ATS and how it fits perfectly here. Just check out the lyrics.
Do you see what I see?
Truth is an offence
Your silence for your confidence
Do you hear what I hear?
Doors are slamming shut
Limit your imagination
Keep you where they must
Do you feel what I feel?
Bittering distress
Who decides what you express?
Do you take what I take?
Endurance is the word
Moving back instead of forward
Seems to me absurd
Doesn't matter what you see
Or into it, what you read
You can do it your own way
If it's done just how I say
Independence limited
Freedom of choice is made for you my friend
Freedom of speech is words that they will bend
Freedom with their exception
Do you fear what I fear?
Living properly
Truths to you are lies to me
Do you choose what I choose?
More alternatives
Energy derives from both the plus and negative
Do you need what I need?
Boundaries overthrown
Look inside to each his own
Do you trust what I trust?
Me, myself and I
Penetrate the smokescreen
I see through the selfish lie
Doesn't matter what you see
Or into it, what you read
You can do it your own way
If it's done just how I say
Independence limited
Freedom of choice is made for you my friend
Freedom of speech is words that they will bend
Freedom with their exception
Do you know what I know?
Your money and your wealth
You silence just to hear yourself
Do you want what I want?
Desire not a thing
I hunger after independence
Lengthen freedom's ring
Doesn't matter what you see
Or into it, what you read
You can do it your own way
If it's done just how I say
Independence limited
Freedom of choice is made for you my friend
Freedom of speech is words that they will bend
Freedom no longer frees you
Doesn't matter what you see
Or into it, what you read
You can do it your own way
If it's done just how I say
I could hear that in my hear reading those lyrics. Long time since I've had that song on... damn it, now I'm all melancholy for when I'd be at my
mates place, jamming on guitar, him on drums, his bro's on bass and rhythm.. :/ we'd play prety much 'tallica non stop.
it is a fitting song too. but that is something that made the guys stand out from the crowd. they weren't about demons and hell and chicks and crap
like that... they were about social and political issues. at least after kia
wish I had someone to listen to it with. won't be putting it on here, I'd go mental in the solitude lol..
I first started playing Metallica on the guitar 20 odd years ago, although my taste in music has varied from my metal days i still find myself playing
my old favorites and eye of the beholder is one of them....
Oh and puppets is by far the best album, justice is good but a little too structured for my liking......
Loved Master of Puppets too. Hell all the early ones were great. Favorite Metallica song? Mine has to be The Four Horseman, or Ride the lightning,
or Creeping Death , or Breadfan, or Sanitarium or... dam I have a lot of favorites lol
Same lol ....so many favs.....battery,orion,dyers eve.....i like em all, each album was favorite at one time or another...
ETA I should clarrify that by albums i am referring to everything before the black album including a few of the songs on it,it took me a while to get
used to it....
