Yet nothing really gets said.

On, and on, and on.. the humans speak in tongues.

About, nothing new under the Sun.

Repetition of vocals, expressing opinions, thoughts, informations, facts.

More talking then listening, yet, with two ears and one mouth. Naturally, ironic.

Everywhere you go, mouths moving, no meaning. Just information from one's mind being transmitted through the throat, as empty air.

Is anybody really listening? Does anyone really care?

We wait for one to finish speaking, so we can respond in more vocal, more empty air.

You ever communicate with someone, once you finish your talk, they automatically have a reply?

Respond without fully, digesting-mentally, what you just said.. isn't that annoying! Robotic in a sense.

Every moment, hundreds of millions, keep talking, non stop. Sunrise, to sunset, lifetimes over, rinse and repeat.

What the need to talk so much? What happened to peace and silence? Balance in the mind. Stillness of thought, genuine conversations.
True connection and relation between two life forms communicating about something that holds meaning to them.

A lost art, communicating is. How could that be possible? The information age I suppose. Radio, television, phones, mp3 - always on, non stop, 24/7, somewhere.
Society, every nation, people swarm as consumers and citizens of.

Talking.

Non stop.

Where is the silence?

Everybody talks. . . Hope you enjoyed the irony.

*goes back to silence, and peace*

It's better than pointing to things and grunting. That, and throwing poo if you're mad at somebody.

Ele. I hear you. People want to talk and listen to and about things they already know. In many cases it is little more if any, than just belonging to something outside of themselves. I find all the time that if I keep my daily conversations to generally accepted topics at a generally accepted level of banality people I converse with are happy. If I veer off course into something, deeper say, I watch the immediate glaze come into their eyes as their minds flip over to the next thing that they would like to say.

People seem to want to be part of the topic that others are going on about. But that aside, did you know there is a twelve step program for people who talk to much? Yeah, it's called On-n-on-n-on.

And to finish up here, your words above reminded me that there once was a composer who touched on this very issue. He was Meridith Wilson who composed the famous musical comedy "The Music Man'. In the story the protagonist meets the 'Women's Auxiliary' of River City Iowa. It is run by the mayors wife who is kind of the mother hen of the town. The final lyrics of the song sung by the Women's Auxiliary emulate the sounds of a clutch of hens in the farm yard. If you have never heard this song, imagine these lyrics to music.

Pick a little, talk a little, pick a little, talk a little,
Cheep cheep cheep, talk a lot, pick a little more
Pick a little, talk a little, pick a little, talk a little,
Cheep cheep cheep, talk a lot, pick a little more
Pick a little, talk a little, pick a little, talk a little,
Cheep cheep cheep cheep cheep cheep cheep cheep
Cheep cheep cheep cheep cheep cheep cheep cheep
Cheep cheep cheep cheep cheep cheep cheep cheep
Pick a little, talk a little, cheep!

Pert 'sur you could have made your point with less drama?
Less words too!

So what? People are people and deep ideas throw them off their game....and? The banalities are there as a way of social lubricant.

If you're looking for something more, go do it....whining doesn't help.
Didn't notice any big deep ideas, so kettle calling pot black comes to mind?

All I can say is

Pink Floyd Keep Talking from The Division Bell

For millions of years mankind lived just like the animals
Then something happened which unleashed the power of our imagination
We learned to talk

There's a silence surrounding me
I can't seem to think straight
I'll sit in the corner
And no one can bother me
I think I should speak now (Why won't you talk to me)
I can't seem to speak now (You never talk to me)
My words won't come out right (What are you thinking)
I feel like I'm drowning (What are you feeling)
I'm feeling weak now (Why won't you talk to me)
But I can't show my weakness (You never talk to me)
I sometimes wonder (What are you thinking)
Where do we go from here (What are you feeling)

It doesn't have to be like this
All we need to do is make sure we keep talking

(Why won't you talk to me) I feel like I'm drowning
(You never talk to me) You know I can't breathe now
(What are you thinking) We're going nowhere
(What are you feeling) We're going nowhere
(Why won't you talk to me)
(You never talk to me)
(What are you thinking)
(Where do we go from here)

It doesn't have to be like this
All we need to do is make sure we keep talking

Why do I feel like this thread is a contradiction to its intention?
