Until we stop harming all other living beings we are still savages. --Thomas Edison
Humanity's true moral test, its fundamental test, consists of its attitude toward those who are at tis mercy: animals. And in this respect, human kind has suffered a fundamental debacle, a debacle so fundamental that all others stem from it.
-- Milan Kundera, The Unbearable Lightness of Being

Finland is doing no such thing. They simply sent out a reminder to people, literally nothing has changed, they are not readying anything.

Finland tells 900,000 reservists their roles 'in the event of war'

Amid rising tension with Russia, Finland takes the rare step of sending letters to every military reservist

The letter tells the reservists which regiment or unit to report to in the event of hostilities. “Attached you will find your personal details as well as your role in the event of war,” it reads.

One Finnish reservist, who received the letter, said: “The timing was not random. It is clearly due to a more aggressive stance by the Russians. I’ve been in the reserves for 15 years and this is the first time I’ve received something like this. They send out letters like this very rarely.”

About bloody time, every animal if it outgrows its capacity to sustain itself in its environment needs to be culled in order to ensure the survival of the species.
Why humans believe they & their lives are more precious than any other animal on this rock is pure hubris.
Humans forget that they are merely talking monkeys with clever thumbs.
Lets start with the ME & work our way out from there.

Every animal feels it should be the one to survive so why not humans? As far as talking monkeys go you are speaking for yourself not me. I am a starseeded galactic human.

While I get and agree with many of your points, your stat about needing to be at 1 billion is incorrect. First, even at current production/consumption/impact levels, we could have more than 1 billion and probably be okay environmentally. With better technology, more sustainable practices, and so on, we can have more for sure than 1 billion and be sustainable. The problem, however, is that we have much more than 1 billion and the way society and most individuals operate is unsustainable.

Poland is modernizing, but they're looking at a couple years to get even most of what they need to be able to field a modern military.

The US military used to send those letters out periodically. They're not a call up or preparation for an upcoming event, they're a reminder where you go if something happens. A lot of countries are feeling pressure from Russia and they're making sure that if something were to happen they aren't caught flat footed.

I hate to break it to you but implementing a one world government and killing off 6 billion people in the process is not what anyone would call a "civilizing" influence.
Mankind may yet colonize other planets but if this is how we do it rest assured any alien life forms we meet on the way will receive the same kind of treatment.

No, one world government is the death of humanity and the birth of the technocratic dictatorship.
Basically what you are saying is if the Nazis had won WW2 that would have been fine since your asking for the exact same thing.

New alliances are being formed and militaries are modernizing. Both require that they train more.

Somehow the aggressors and war mongers are quick to use the word 'we' when there are problems that they created ..
In spite of our population vs. resource issues, we could come up with a solution if the war mongering politicians would spend money on the well being of the people, instead of every more destructive weapons for their own greed based wars ..
'We' did not cause this mess ... the war mongering countries' politicians did ..
If anyone needs to be culled .. those damn politicians need to be first in line .. hang 'um high!

Russia must know this too and would move before they get modernized if they really do plan to roll armor across the board for Iron Curtain 2.0.

I would hope that IF such a thing happened, The People of the world would set to track down and eliminate every person that was associated with politics and policy making worldwide that led to it. That would include the financiers and the elite that profit from the Military Industrial Complex.

Then they waited too long. The Polish air force has upgraded significantly and would be able to slow any advance long enough for help from European allies to arrive and assist.

Deliveries of their new Leopard tanks and other armor were scheduled to start last year.

The unfortunate thing is that war doesn't wait for everyone involved to be prepared. You are addressing this issue as if I wanted it, and I sure don't. The information I posted is from a reliable source, but if it was my choice, I would rather have no war.

let's remember that reliable sources have certain opinions of their own, directions that they assume others will take. and the higher they are in their specific field of endeavor, the bigger their own ego.

LOL yuup, there's that hubris. The only thing "starseeded" about you are the heavy atoms other than that you crawled out of the muck like every other beast on this rock.

Right there with ya Mogli but lets take the long view.
Besides those tenth of a percent of humanity that are so wrongly wired as to be a threat to all other life on this rock lets also clean house on the 30% that are little beyond animals.

Did a search on this using ATS search engine and couldn't find anything.

Said a senior NATO (non-US) GOFO to me today: "We'll probably be at war this summer. If we're lucky it won't be nuclear." Let that sink in.

twitter.com...

I know it is a tweet, but this was posted by former NSA intelligence analyst John Schindler. Whomever his source was, let's just hope they are wrong.

Here is some information about John Schindler

John R. Schindler
Author
John Schindler is a former NSA intelligence analyst and counterintelligence officer, now strategist, author, and commentator. He was formerly employed as a professor of national security affairs at the U.S. Naval War College.

I don't see it happening this summer, at least. War just doesn't happen, there is a build up to it and i don't see that going on.

Yes, he was formerly employed as a professor at the War College until last year, when he emailed his penis pic to a female twitter follower. That ended his professor gig real quick. I'm still laughing from reading that.

Now he's relegated to tweeting and blogging...how the mighty have fallen.

You misunderstand,

The only way America could defeat the Nazis was to incorporate many of their methods. Where do you think the military industrial complex, media propaganda, the police state, surveillance state, corporate welfare, and corporate protectionism came from?

I don't think you realize that when a company that is too big to fail, ends up being bailed out, that we are no longer in the sphere of capitalism. Most of our system has evolved into National Socialism, I am detailing the next step in this evolutionary process, where nations are dissolved into one global corporate state.

The destructive technologies that are being developed, and will be developed, will not allow humans to exist if we still maintain the old social order of warring factions (or states and religions).

The Polish airforce could withstand the entire Russian airforce and not lose air superiority after Russia's first strikes? Sounds unrealistic and tanks are pretty much useless if you don't have air superiority. The Western nations have been slacking off since the cold war, this mad scramble should not be happening.
