i commend you for the assistance you gave that poor young lady. and i wish to point out that regardless of what faith inspired you to act, in the end, YOU acted. no one else. a human helped out another human being, not for profit but out of genuine compassion. i see that as reason to celebrate the human condition and leave the credit there.

Chazm, you been around here for quite awhile and quite often.
Happy to see you under less normal circumstances.

i would call that a mental illness. not a serious one, but still an illness. its a shame to think someone as helpful as what you did could turn around and look at themselves like a bad guy because of something they did when they were 12. loosen up and let go. holding onto that shame and self-vilification is NOT a healthy response by any stretch of the imagination.

But it's such a comfortable illness Chaz.

I told her, "Look wait right here, ( in front of the door) let me go
inside and get some more money. I'm going to take you to my wife".

Good move.

I couldn't help but overhear some of the other reactions.
I don't blow off damage I've done in the past either. That's sane in my book.

Feels good to do good.

The reason I said it was a good move taking her to your wife was because I helped an abandoned woman once.

She had evidently been dumped off at my apartment complex by people who she had been partying with the night before.

Her car was parked in a field by these guys' house. She was from out of town and had no clear idea as to where the house was. I drove her around until she started recognizing land marks. Eventually, we found her car.

But she was broke because the guys took her money claiming they were going to buy more party supplies. So I put her up in a motel for the night with two rolls of quarters so she could call some of her friends listed in a black book.

Then she said, "Hey, you could come back tonight if you want to. I clean up real good."

So I said, "I'll check with my wife about that."

You think that might have messed up her angle?
If she was looking for a sucker?
It's entirely possible.

No, I saw her in person, not just story.

Plus, her car had all her belongings.

Like she had moved on from something and was looking for a place to land.

Story would have made more sense with pictures. No pictures I'm afraid.

Oh, I kind of had a funny feeling when "Nigeria" was in your Lady's story. I've heard of scams that involve saying "Nigeria".

But if a scam that's on her, not you. Wives seem less inclined to believe stories coming from a pretty face.

Good people don't brag about their good deeds on the internet after doing so.
