Sorta sounds like you might be...

ublican presidential hopeful tells Council on Foreign Relations only US can lead resistance to Islamic State, Chinese expansionism and Russian aggression

Marco Rubio filled a lecture hall at the Council on Foreign Relations with imagery about warships, fighter jets and weapons shipments in an appearance on Wednesday to lay out his vision for a significantly more muscular US foreign policy – one that he said would prevent a global descent into “chaos” but stop short of making America the “world policeman”.

“America plays a part on the world stage for which there is no understudy,” the senator and Republican presidential hopeful told a standing-room-only crowd on New York’s upper east side. “When we fail to lead with strength and principle there is no other country, friend or foe, that is willing or able to take our place. And the result is chaos.”

While most of the policy prescriptions Rubio made Wednesday – arm the Ukrainian military, pull back from negotiations with Iran, increase air strikes in Iraq, increase naval activity in the China Sea, reverse the “normalization” of relations with Cuba – were hawkish in nature, on the most hotly contested foreign policy issue of the last decade – the Iraq war – the candidate seemed to reverse himself in the direction of restraint.

Say it ain't so! A republican who wants MORE intervention by western and NATO forces.

Wow can you see that laundry list of his?

-Arm Ukraine
-Drop Iranian Negotiations
-More Iraq operations
-No Cuba deal

Are you kidding me? You want the US foreign policy to be that of the Cold War era. It's pathetic. You want FAILED foreign policy.

Isolationism and more Military Occupations to solve your problems, caused by the same two things.

You aren't helping yourself Marco, Americans don't want that kind of President.

One simply cannot legitimately state, that one does not support a world police attitude being held by a nations government, and then follow that reasonable statement of position, by announcing that more interventionist policy is required in order to achieve a proper state of affairs!

Either one believes that America should not be a global police agent, or one believes that it should. But one cannot both have ones cake, and consume it at the same time. Rubio's approach seems akin to stating that one is not a racist, but finds themselves automatically assuming that all people of colour behave like Franklin from GTA 5!

This is the most ludicrous statement I have heard from a US politician since George Bush last held office!

As examples of double speak go, this one is a total pearler!

Mindless GOP Drones + Mindless DNC drones = us problems,

When we fail to lead with strength and principle

It's the lack of principle and integrity that got us in to the disastrous mess we are in today.

These guys are all a bunch of boobs and I just don't understand how any intelligent, observant person can fall for the lies over and over again.

No worries. Jeb is from Florida and so is Rubio. They won't go with a ticket with two from the same state. That's unheard of. Jeb would go with a state he needs help carrying - like Wisconsin or New Jersey. If Walker (Wisconsin) got in as the GOP nominee, then Rubio might be the VP pick, but I can't see it a Jeb/Rubio pick. Christie? I can't see him getting very far so I have no worries about him.

The source for this is Raw Story which inflates and dramatizes headlines (Raw Story and Brietbart = same/same). Rubio said he doesn't see the USA as 'world police'. but he wants to take a stronger world position than Obama has (not hard to do). That doesn't necessarily mean 'boots on the ground'. And the American public wouldn't go for it anyways. Remember when Obama wanted us to go to war in Syria a year or so ago? The American people had a fit and Obama didn't get to play war god there. Same thing would happen if Rubio tried boots on the ground in the Ukraine. I think that no one would put up with it.

Tenth,
"Marco, are you setting yourself up to be Jeb's VP pick? "
Saw an article on Politico about Rubio "owning" Bush on foreign affairs and he's preaching to then Neocons and advocates having Ukraine join NATO. He' s not running for second place here. I think he genuinely thinks he can win the nomination and then the whole enchilada.

ATS Residents WARNING!
First, any candidate that preaches to the Council of Foreign Relations is OWNED by the CFR which is incredibly hawkish. For the CFR, every problem looks like potential WMD and every solution is WAR!

Second, Russia will go ballistic if Ukraine tries to join NATO. Poland is the extreme eastern limit of NATO reach. Any US President who advocates Ukraine join NATO is going to find himself/herself at war with Russia, either a new Cold War with Russia invading Ukraine or potentially a "hot" war. KNOW THIS, in any foreign relations kerfuffle between Putin and any US President, the US President will be out stepped and out maneuvered by Putin. Put simply, the US doesn't create politicians capable of wiley State craft on Putin's level. Putin would own any of the presently announced candidates.

Third, the US can't win a thermonuclear war with Russia. But worse, the EU is falling apart with Grexit and the UK looking to bail. That leaves Germany and its client states and Germany is realizing they need Russia more than they need the US/UK.

You vote for a Neocon and its game over and there's a real possibility that this will accelerate the demise of the US Dollar as the world reserve currency in a less than ordered manner which leaves the US BANKRUPT! And your crappy currency worthless.

As things stand, if you wish to see the US survive in the new millennium, then you have to realize that the biggest threat to US survival is its debt bomb and worthless currency. That being the case, the best answer is an orderly transition away from the US Dollar as the world reserve currency as its replaced by a World Bank SDR basket of currencies which include the Yuan. A Neocon in the White Hut will be ruinous to your economic interests and the economic survivability of the US.

It sounds like that the entire GOP isn't being hijacked by what amounts to a 21st century version of isolationism. Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it , World wars and all.

I expect the rug has been put out for Jeb Bush to win the nod for the GOP. As for his VP pick hopefully its someone more like Paul Ryan than Sarah Palin.
