A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed................it is time the American people arose from their slumber and recognised that there is a clear interpretation that the 2nd amendment extends to the security of a free nation - irrespective of what lying lawyers would have you believe otherwise.

Or you can wait to download the next episode of Vikings // GoT, ensure your facebook status is up-to-date and make it to the 50%-off sale at the mall next week and emulate the hollywood stars.

Your choice.

It would only take one person with a plan. Why are you not leading the charge, and creating the event which will entice others to follow?

1. Because I'm Australian.
2. You (the American collective) are quite capable of cleaning up your own backyard.
3. I only socialise on ATS (no FB, Twit* or anything else) and it is against T&C's to entice as you have suggested.

Anyone who has any idea how business works knows that if someone is forced to pay whether they want to or not, it isn't important whether or not they are pleased with the products provided by the vendor.

It's just business and that is the problem with business.

Land of the free?.
Hardly....

I see, you're not an American. Let me educate you on point 3 then. Everyone knows that they cannot go up against the military, and it would happen. If you get a group to forcefully change the government at the point of a gun, the military will be there to protect the government and put you down. Then, even if you get past that point, what are you going to do? A document with cryptic wording has many interpretations, via the method of gaining office you have no credibility that your interpretation is correct, and you have no one in your group that can do better. Furthermore, by taking office you have just sparked others into action to throw you out.

I have said here many times that the 2nd is an extraneous amendment at this point, but some people really love their guns.

The 2nd is not how you protect your country, it's how you lose it.

So we're basically Slaves and Serfs.

And even AFTER this study is published, nothing will change. So why even comment or fight or be any sort of 'activist' at all?

I don't even see the sense in it since nobody I know personally is a Billionaire or Lobbyist.

This is where I put the blame on voters. It is all broadcasted on Cspan, when they vote. There are are many sites that are easy to locate to find out how your representatives vote. Like the new budget. No democrats voted for it because all the cuts are domestic and the increases are military. What I personally glean from that: If the republicans get the presidency and majority of congress, there is going to be all out war. Everywhere.

Well that's not surprising what so ever. We need a new genera of Government. Communism and Democracy clearly do not work.

Precisely why we were meant to be a Constitutional Republic with Democratic principles.

Sadly, that too has failed but not for any inherent weakness in the system other than the interpretation of laws and words by the lawyer class.

I have spent the last 27 of my 45 years immersing myself in American history, and in particular the US constitution and all amendments.

No need to lecture me on anything, here is a snippet of my understanding....read BOTH posts very carefully.....this is in regards to the 4th amendment.....
www.abovetopsecret.com...
www.abovetopsecret.com...

So, your 2nd amendment right - in a nutshell - is to ALSO reign-in rogue government so as to protect your god-given freedom.

sadly this will remain the case until term limits and lobbying restrictions laws are passed. i'm not holding my breath for that.
even people that get elected vowing to change this don't, they either get all caught up in the game, get run out of town by the ones already entrenched there and or voted out thru the next election, or they get frustrated and quit before they can build support to pass these laws.

Taxation without representation...Way back when this started a revolution now it's like the majority don't care. Sad.

They don't care as long as food stamps still work.

Wait till that is taken away.

wholly unsurprising. Citizens United guarantees that $$$ = speech. 90% of Americans really don't have enough money to have a voice. It doesn't shock me at all that people without voices are not heard.

They had to do a study to figure that out?

I mean...the reminders are all around us, pretty much daily.

How about my party, The Justice Party

The Justice Party is committed to eliminate the systemic corruption in government caused by the undue influence of concentrated sources of wealth (both corporate and individual), which has led to many serious ills in our society, including widespread poverty, infant and maternal mortality, expensive and inaccessible healthcare, record incarceration rates, and environmental destruction.

I think that most people are really afraid of not being Republican or Democrat because their families or peer groups tend to cause them to feel as though they are disloyal.

People don't vote their conscience any more, they vote because of that ingrained idea of disloyalty, because loyalty is one of the most valued ideals to humans.

Unless we break the idea that our families or peer groups are always right, then there won't be a change. Sometimes our families can be wrong, definitely our peer groups can be very wrong. But blood is thicker than water.

Christopher Spada is running for The Justice Party in 2016.

You plugged Bernie Sanders, so I get to plug Christopher Spada.

Isn't there enough going on in Australian politics and in your backyard? Make a thread about Australian politics so we can stand around looking at your backyard and commenting on how you have a lot of weeds in it.

Remember, congress works for the people -- and corporations are now people!

We can't restrict donations by corporations though, as that would be infringing upon their freedom of speech (because they're people!).

I do find it a bit unfair, as the system is "pay to play" and the average person's voice ($) isn't nearly as powerful as a multi-billion dollar corporation's voice ($$$$$).

How does this matter to the average person. We don't have to concur with anything that anyone tries to force over us and may instead not follow a null and void mandate, ie it violates the laws in our hearts, common law and constitution therefore doesnt exist and no has to pay it any heed. But the way the thugs operate is to attack you anyway, so it really takes awareness and people pulling away support in numbers, mostly.

In any case, its time for people to stop enabling the bad ideas, even if they jot it on paper or a corrupt minion judge decides this way, and say, NO. That is not how its going to be.

Writing the crime as if it suddenly became a lofty rock of truth over your head is ridiculous. Its not a rock, its not legal, its a pile of dung and no one needs to agree with it, follow or obey it and in fact should immediately work together or singularly to really take away any empowerment from the criminals propping it up. Because their excrement, their pseudo laws, stink to high heaven.

Now THAT was the best line I have heard so far today. May I borrow that line?

I read your Conservative government just won. Does that mean UKIP won, or were they on the other side?

Are you referring to the Ranga or the bloke who wears budgie-smugglers or the world-record holder beer skulling champion?

Make a thread about Australian politics so we can stand around looking at your backyard and commenting on how you have a lot of weeds in it.

Not possible - you first need to be able to identify Australia on a map, and most cannot - and no, Arnold Schwarzenegger was not born here.

Cheers

No, the Conservative Party won the election. There were lots of parties running, including the Labour Party, the Liberal Democrats, the Green Party, and arguably the SNP on the left, and the Conservative Party, UKIP, and probably some others even further to the right than those two. In addition there were independent candidates, none of whom had any media coverage what so ever, and whose names I had never heard before that day.

We are TOLD that we do not have a two party system here, and in fact I believe that entirely. There is one party running this show, and there always has been. We do not know their names, and we can only discern their intentions by the effects of their meddling.

ETA: of course you can borrow that line! Feel free!
