How are ATS Moderators chosen?

They contacted me. I don't know the criteria... but I suppose it has to do with posting history and respecting the T&Cs of the board, but I really have no idea.

No. Unless it's changed since I was a mod. LOL! (If so, I want back in!) I stopped because I simply wasn't enjoying my experience of ATS as much - as a mod as opposed to as a member. It's a big responsibility and I found myself self-censoring, because I didn't want to be a jerk. I stepped down and it was all cool.

I think super moderators are mods who have earned their red cape.

Well just for fun I'll take a stab as to the difference between moderator and super,

My guess is a moderator is assigned to a specific forum or several forums, while a super would be able to moderate site wide.

Let's see how close I am lol

The only way to get a reaction of a mod is.....make a wrong reply :-)

From what I understand, it is largely based on your reputation, account age, number of posts/comments and by invitation only.. and if I remember correct when I once asked that same question directly of a moderator.. I was told that it's kind of put up to a vote and I don't know if the process has changed..

But you're suggested, considered and it's a group decision .. I am purely speculating after that but I imagine you probably have a probation period.

I'm pretty sure that's it, I read it not long ago while surfing around one night (because I was curious). The supers have the ability to roam.

We are going back many years here. The forums have either closed or died down or I wanted to spend more time here and not have to worry about another place. Just recently was asked to be a mod elsewhere, but I can't leave my precious time here. LO I'm addicted.

All the best mods here have an edge to them that does not go unappreciated. It shows and its a very good thing IMO. So beezzer....... you would do well I think !
